Fig - black Genoa (Grafted) 9/10Birdybooo1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4967 days 12hrs Comments: - My partner bought me this fig tree. It gave us 5 fruits in its first year but I had to remove it to relief any stress caused during transplant. It lost all its leaves during winter but is showing sign of new growth now that spring is close. We put it in the ground and will be planning on pruning it to give a compact easy to manage tree as space is a limiting factor in our garden. Other than the dog, it doesn't seem to have issues with pest. We give it plenty of manure and have grown it directly in the space where our compost bin used to be, hopefully the soil around the area received plenty of nutrients of the bin in previous years. Update after winter: Lots of fruit like buds and leaves. Fruiting Months February, May, June, July Planted: 2012 Height 1.1 metres Growing: In the Ground First Fruited: 2 Months from Purchase in Pot Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Water Given in: Autumn and Spring Pruned By: 20% in Autumn and Winter Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Manure and power feed When I Fertilise: When Fruiting Organic Status:Organic Was this review helpful? Fig Deanna (Cutting) 9/10 Figbarron's Edible FruitsUpdate: 3457 days 11hrs Comments: - There were only two fig types at bunnings, brown turkey and black genoa and wanted a bit more variety. I purchased this 2 year old bare-root fig tree from an online eBay nursery. Its supposed to have light greenish-yellow flesh and a tasty pulp. Its currently growing in a cut 200L drum. The cut drum is self watering and promotes healthier root system through air pruining. The fig has just started to produce some foilage. Potting mix is the same as my other figs. 1:1:1 coconut coir, potting mix and compost mixed in with dynamic lifter. Planted: 2016 Height 0.8 metres Growing: In a Pot Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Winter Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Dynamic Lifter, blood and bone, nitrosol Organic Status:Organic Was this review helpful? Fig - Brown Turkey Feedingtimeatthezoo's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4516 days 5hrs Comments: - Struck from a sucker from a friend's tree around 1993. Took quite a few years to establish. I do nothing to it - water only in the hottest part of summer and has never been fertilised. Fruiting well last few years after a heavy prune to keep it under 2m ... and I now actually GET the fruit since I started netting it from the birds! Lovely fruit when dried.
