Did you grow it from seed? Ive had many getting off to a wonderful start in my worm farm but thought that they wouldnt do here in Warragul. ive got one thats come up with the compost from the worm farm in my large mint pot. think I'll just keep it all well fed and see what happens .
Linton says... [3488 days 9hrs ago]
Yes, it is grown from seed. I think they should also survive in Warragul. Cheers!

Mango - Bowen (Seedling) 10/10

Steven's Edible Fruits
Update: 5791 days 17hrs

Comments: -

Bought a couple of years ago, i protected it in winter for the first couple of seasons but now its in a large pot outside fully exposed during winter and it does fine.

Last season it flowered and a few fruits set but dropped them shortly after. Its a young tree though so its common for that to happen so im not worried. So far im really happy with how its grown. Everyone told me it would not be able to survive here and will die during its first winter.

I forgot to label it so I can't remember what type of mango it is ( I'm hopeless like that). I planted it as a seed from a mango I bought from the supermarket 3 years ago.  It started off on my kitchen window ledge and is currently in the green house. It is doing great.  I currently have a few more seeds in production.

Like hot dry spring, summer. Night temp of 14c for flowers to set fruits. Cut all flowers off, if you want your tree to flower later. It takes 100-150d from flowers to harvest depending on mango cv

Dwarf Mango - King Thai

Sesame1's Edible Fruits
Update: 3472 days 4hrs

Comments: - I have a few mango trees that grow in pots and ground. They did ok in Melbourne but grew very slowly and suffered some die back in winter. I had 2 mango trees planted in ground died. New growth emerged around late November and easily burnt by hot summer sun. So they need protection from frost and sun while they are young.

Comments: - Trying to grow one here in Melbourne. Received an 18 month old seedling in a 70mm grow-tube during the winter this year and has been repotted into a 300mm pot.  I took it indoors at night  as it was quite cold. Its begining to push some new gowth as the weather warms up.  Will update regularly.

Mangoes are one of my favourite fruits. Love tropical plants and growing them in Melbourne is a challenge but also quite rewarding when it's successful.

I had blossoms and tiny fruits on my mango tree in the second and third year but all the fruits fell. Does anyone have any advice on how to look after the blossoms and to get some fruits from mango tree.

I think it is a Bowen.  Bought from Bunnings 3 years ago in pot.  Since then I have transplanted into a bigger pot.  It is thriving.  It is in a sheltered area. Has survived 2 cold winters.  This year is currently producing flowers.  Currently preparing ground for transplanting.  Do I need to clip the top of it before planting in ground?
