Comments: - Scary tree because it wants to grow into a giant here. That's interesting because it behaved totally differently 700km north of here. Doesn't have any leaf drop here either. Wishing I had planted it somewhere else now, and had to cut down the second tree next to it because they were taking over. The roots are invasive so don't plant near pipes, walls etc...
Apart from that - it's dead easy to grow in our climate, is not at all fussy about the soil, the water, the winter - or bothered by pests/diseases. The fruit needs to bagged against Mediterranean fruit fly and the parrots and possums...
The fruit is beautiful - texture a bit like avocado and the flavour of lemon meringue pie, to me. Skin can be eaten also. 
Self fertile and a good cross pollinator. If only the fruit were bigger and more numerous.
I have to hack this tree back by 50% every 2-3years.

Bought in 2013oct fr bunning with fruit on it. Did not take care of it since I am not that fond of the fruit. Love the look of the fruit, light yellow with deep purple stripe. When it is ripe, it has very light sweet flavor.

extremely prolific, large fruit and taste great, reliable year after year. Covered in pink flowers in spring and fruits need to be heavily thinned after flowering to produce large sweet juicy yummy fruits.  Precocious - started harvesting within 12 months from planting. (only a 2 feet stick at planting). I pruned my heavily when young to keep the tree nice and low and an open vase shape for easy picking.

I needed something tough to survive the location (full Perth summer sun against a reflective metal fence) that would 'match' the other plums I have.

Blossom commenced late August, early September 2010. It only really seems to have taken off late October - maybe next year it will feel more at home.

Plant is still not thriving. Leaves removed June 2011. I'm not sure why it isn't very happy ... it is just taking a long time to feel thoroughly at home.

Jan 2012 - This is NOT an amber gold ... the fruit (half a dozen) are very large (circumference 20cm), heart shaped, green-red on the outside, pink on the inside and SUBLIME. Clearly the wrong lable - but delicious. Not another blood plum either (as I've got these and this fruit is different). The plant took awhile to establish, but is growing well now. Clearly requires more chill than offered by Perth ... but just divine.

Just one of my many passionfruits as you can never have enough. This one is growing up a wire mesh as a screen for our mini orb rock bathroom. The wallabies have taken a bit of a liking to some of them. They prune the passionfruit and the pawpaws but so far have left everything else alone. Fair is fair I suppose as you can t always have it your own way!!!

It is a great cross pollinator for granny smith and pink lady. It appears quite happy in the WA conditions. Baby fruit are being removed to promote a good root system. In time it is hoped to become party of the 'apple fruit tree hedge' and provide a non-obtrusive screen between us and some neighbours. Loads of flowers and new leaves emerged late October 2010. As of Jan 2011 I've stripped off most of the fruit, but still have a good number remaining. Although some of these fruit have been burnt, they are growing and look healthy (who cares about spots on apples ... they still taste good)

In March 2011 I removed between 1-3kg of fruit off each tree. The sun had burned some apples, but they were quite tasty. I can see these guys eliminating my need for supermarket apples in a few years.

Was double grafted with the fuji. Removed in mid 2010 as not terribly productive- getting more fruit off the much younger pinkabelle

Planted just after house was built in 2003. Hasn't grown terribly well- partially because of root disturbance as vege garden was extended into lawn area. Also a bit cramped where it is- between the compost bin and the fence (and it's double grafted with a fuji)

Pruned relatively hard to keep the height down. Shaping of the original plant not as good as it could have been- I've gotten better with practice :)
