Fruity Tootie starts with ... Hi All. Mary T was kind enough to give me 2 seedlings of the Seville Orange. I wanted one for me and one for an aunt. Truth be told my aunt ended up saying she doesn't really make jam etc anymore but was going to take the seedling anyway and plant it down the south coast at her holiday house (ie, she will never have time to look after it/ nor use it for making jam). Plus she is already heading toward her late 70's (!) and the seedling won't even be fruiting for many many years yet (!)so I feel that this is a useless use of this seedling which is quite hard to get. I will give her something else instead and don't need two of these so I am offering it to a true interested person as I am, who will look after it and put the fruits to good use. I got it for free from Mary T so obviously I am giving it away free too, but just want someone who will care for it as Julie and Mary T have done in the past (and me in the interem!). Please let me know if you want it. First in best dressed as they say! | About the Author Fruitie Tootie Sydney 25th October 2011 6:40pm #UserID: 5884 Posts: 34 View All Fruitie Tootie's Edible Fruit Trees |
juanita says... Hello Fruity Tootie..Im interested to have your Seville orange as i would love to make my own bitter taste orange marmalade someday..I will take care of it as i've taken cared of the rest of my fruit trees in my backyard..Have you tried St.Dalfour (made in France)orange marmalade? it must be made from Seville orange,as it has a delicious bitterness taste in it..That's the only orange marmalade i buy from the supermarket. | About the Author melbourne 26th October 2011 12:28am #UserID: 0 Posts: View All 's Edible Fruit Trees |

Elf says... Dear Fruity Tootie, I got a bit lost in all of the offers and can't work out if you've given your seedlings to anyone yet! If you haven't, is there any way I could pay for postage, to send them to an address in South Western Sydney? My dad LOVES seville orange marmalade and has been wanting to get a tree for years- they've just moved and now have room to grow fruit trees and I can assure you he'd tend to it with devotion and lovingkindness :) | About the Author Elf1 UK 19th December 2011 3:22am #UserID: 6263 Posts: 3 View All Elf1's Edible Fruit Trees |

Elf says... Would still love it Fruity Tooty! I'm sure dad would be willing to come and pick it up, (they've been through the stage of having two little ones many years ago so I'm sure he more than understands!) but it depends on where you are as to how easy it would be- would you mind emailing me at erdunstan (at) hotmaoin (dot) com and we can work out how he can pick it up? Thanks so much! | About the Author Elf1 UK 15th February 2012 9:32pm #UserID: 6263 Posts: 3 View All Elf1's Edible Fruit Trees |

Julie says... llijas, I guess you have read about it in other threads - more than one, so a bit confusing. They usually fruit around August/September, but didn't mature and ripen last year - first time ever. If they do OK this year, I'll post a message on the forum and folks can send me their addresses then. Think I will make a separate thread re 'Seville seeds ready', or something like that. | About the Author Julie Roleystone WA 3rd April 2012 9:04pm #UserID: 154 Posts: 1842 View All Julie's Edible Fruit Trees |

Ilijas says... Very sweet of you, Julie. I've got a West Indian Lime and a Nagami Cumquat. I hope I can return the favour one day with some delicious marmalade from their fruits. I love marmalade. And I love cooking it. I've made a cumquat one several times, and it is sensational, zingy, zesty, tangy, aromatic. Yum. Yum. Yum. :) | About the Author Ilijas Melbourne 4th April 2012 9:00pm #UserID: 6805 Posts: 29 View All Ilijas's Edible Fruit Trees |
