Carambola Starfruit - Kary (Grafted) 7/10 Waterfall's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4030 days 4hrs Comments: - Not very old, lost most of its leaves due to transport shock from Kyogle I'd say but putting on lots of new growth in spring, hopefully its warm enough in Sydney. Put on some very solid growth over summer. Has already started to flower in autumn. Height 1 metres Growing: In the Ground Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Spring Pollination: Self Pollination Pest Control: will bag fruit if it survives. Was this review helpful? Carambola Starfruit - Kary 8/10 Linnie's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4199 days 18hrs Comments: - Bought this plant from Daleys years ago. It achieved about 1.5 spindly metres growth, and then nearly died from frost, due to our marginal growing conditions. It held on, and, this year, has become very much more lush in appearance and looks like a sturdy, healthy plant. I hope it is self-pollinating, as I only have one plant, and I see the words "Pollination beneficial"! Height 3 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Full Shade Pollination: No Fertiliser or Organics Used: Mulch, longalife, cow poo, blood and bone etc When I Fertilise: Yearly Pest Control: nil Organic Status:Partially Organic Question: This Carambola (same one as discussed here some time ago) was bought as a grafted plant, but I can't recall which graft it was. It now fruits abundantly, starting about 3 years ago with its first handful of fruits, but going into full production a couple of years ago. The only problem is that the fruit is to astringent to make for pleasant eating. Any idea why, or how to correct that issue, as it is an abundant creature now?! :-) Thank you. Carambola Starfruit - Kembangan (Grafted) 8/10 KateGreen1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5957 days 7hrs Comments: - I absolutely love fresh starfruit and I am attempting to provide a micro climate for it. Although this plant was knocked around when we received 3 days in a row over 40 degrees, I have nurtured it and it is still doing pretty well considering it is still small. The winter didn't seem to worry it too much although I did protect it from the frost. Planted: 2009 Height 1 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Full Sun Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Charlie Carp, worm wee When I Fertilise: Winter and Spring Pest Control: Chickens Organic Status:Organic Question: Any tips on how to keep this going would be greatly appreciated! Carambola Starfruit- Seedling (Seedling) 10/10 Sean1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5250 days 5hrs Comments: - Arrived from Daleys looking great (Aug 2011) but Sydney was a bit cold & it lost some of that Kyogle growth! I took it out of the bonsai bag & tranplanted it to a warm black pot - that plus spring weather has seen it re establish & looks good. Has had protection from hot arvo sun over summer & has grown better in this position Planted: 2011 Height 1 metres Growing: In a Pot Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Spring Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Dynamic Lifter, Seasol When I Fertilise: When Fruiting and Spring Pest Control: none Organic Status:Organic Was this review helpful?
