Seedling: Lusciously beautifully strong sweet scent in the air, thanks to the flowers, during Summer, up to maybe late March.

Rare edible small pods.

Maybe mainly a male, but is rarely changing to a bisexual/hermaphrodite tree producing very sparse small pods.

1 male and 1 female.  Had some beans but were attacked by a pest which I couldn't determine. Nice tree but very vigorous. Has grown through its pot and into the ground.  No chance of getting it out and back into a pot.  It is wind pollinated.

I bought one little plant a few years ago... It is still alive, and it is still little! Because I know it more than likely won't offer up pods without lots more carobs nearby to pollinate it, and then it may well get fungus on the pods because we get too much humidity, I haven't spoilt it very much. One day I will get it some friends, though, to give it a fighting chance... For those who can grow them, I think carob pods are delicious...as well as nutritious. (Fresh pods can sometimes be found the Lebanese Hot NUT type bars/grocery shops.)
