My Edible Fruit Trees: White Sapote Trees SA

Choose Your State: ALL NSW QLD VIC WA ACT NT SA TAS NT

White Sapote - Vernon (Grafted) 9/10

Peter91's Edible Fruits
Update: 2764 days 11hrs

Comments: -

So far this has been my most productive white sapote in terms of growing, wouldn't even stop growing throughout winter in a small planter bag outside.

Bought as a pollinator variety and recently planted into the ground, hopefully it flushes new growth and begins to fruit in a few years.

Planted: 2016

Height 1.5 metres

Growing: In the Ground

Hey VLCT you're in Glenelg so was wondering if you'd had any luck with your white sapote fruiting yet? Could you hit me with an email at peterantoniw@msn.com to discuss this.

Hi there, ive just startrd growing this in Adelaide as well, was wondering if it has fruited and how it does in winter, for me the leaves roll up.

Hey Luke, Any white sapote will grow fine I'm Adelaide and fruit, just expect it to look a bit ratty in the first year as it adjusts to the Adelaide climate and will probably drop leaves in the first year of winter etc but will make a full comeback.

Cheers Peter91, eased my worries on the leaf curl. Seems the growth spurt just before winter didn't have time to harden off and curled up like little tubes.

Lovely looking tree and has grown very rapidly. New growth has been burnt in it's first Summer, but this year with shadecloth on hottest days no problems. Flowering and tiny fruits set, so far none have matured. Fingers crossed this year.
