Canistel Amanda's Edible FruitsUpdate: 2540 days 3hrs Comments: - Pouteria campechiana. I grew them from seeds - from a man called Mike in Cairns. It's been a long road with these seedlings and I have nearly lost them at times - but I finally have one growing well now, and another hanging in there. Fingers crossed. They don't like our winters here - but as they get bigger I suspect they will get hardier? Planted: 2015 Height 1 metres Growing: In the Ground Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Water Given in: Spring SpringPollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Balanced Acid Lovers mostly - and some slow release organic chook manure pellets. Canistel Sesame1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 3435 days 18hrs Comments: - Quite a good looking tree with big wavy leaves. However all of its leaves were dropped due to frost damages in early spring. I should have given it a bit more protection! Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report 2 of 6 people found this review useful |

Canistel - Emma (Grafted) VF1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5001 days 2hrs Comments: - A cold-hardy variety I thought I would give a try. I 've eaten a round variety of Canistel from Tropical Fruit World and they were delicious- a thick, but smooth textured fruit whose flavour was very much like 'Juicy Fruit chewing gum' - I think it would be nice in smoothies. The fruit seems decorative too, when hanging on the tree. (Note: now winter, 2012. Temp. to 6C, plant unaffected. Will probably get slightly colder by about 1-1.5C, but looking good) Planted: 2012 Growing: In a Pot Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Pollination: Self Pollination Was this review helpful?
