Amla

$17.75 ($17.75-$79.00 choose a size)

The Amla or Indian Gooseberry is a small leafy tree that grows throughout India and bears an edible fruit. Amla oil is extracted from its seeds and pulp. The amla fruit is often referred to as the "Indian Gooseberry" because of its edible, very tart taste. The pectin content makes it ideal for jam and chutneys. The tree begins to yield fruit from the third year onwards and the productivity levels are good. Amla oil is prepared from dried amla berries, which have been soaked in coconut oil for several days. This oil is one of the world's oldest natural hair conditioners. These trees are semi deciduous in the winter and spring, and may lose some leaves in transport as a stress response. This is quite normal and the plant will recover well.

Irrigation 30m Flex Tube 12mm diameter

$34.00

This flex tubing allows you to connect directly to your home garden taps and handle the typical water flow without bursting connections like typical polypipe that requires expensive pressure reducing connectors. The flexibility of the tubing allows you to run it along fences or through tight spaces and being black it is often not noticeable. Unlike brittle poly pipe the fixtures are easily assembled and won't burst when you turn the tap on full. You can join up to 90m in length or 3 lengths together then attach the sprinklers and still get enough pressure to to run the sprinkler heads.

Allspice

I was given this and did not know what it was for years. Flowered (small, cream flowers in clusters) prolifically after I cut it back severely. I grow it for the clove-scented leaves rather than the purple-black berries.

It is still small, growing in a pot in full sun.  It gets on well with the other plants in the pot, Winter Tarragon, French Tarragon and Thyme. The leaves are used in cooking, no idea if the plant is male or female and we only have one.
