Mandarin (Grafted) 9/10 Allybanana's Edible FruitsUpdate: 3021 days 20hrs Comments: - It gives tasty fruit in winter and looks good, I am not sure of the variety, grandma planted it in 1987, it gets runoff from the roof which no doubt helps it thrive. Interestingly this tree has a raised bed covering the graft, roots are growing from above the graft. I wonder if this increases the size and salinity tolerance of this tree. Fruiting Months June, July, August, September Planted: 1987 Height 4 metres Growing: In the Ground Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Pruned By: 30% in Pest Control: I suck up the stink bugs with the vac. August 2009: Pruned the tree. September 2009: Some flowering activity recorded. Applied sulphate of potash and watered in. Removed all visible fruit buds to concentrate on growth and prevent branch distortion. Introduced fly trap. December 2009 to March 2010: Whatever flowers I left on the tree have become nice large Satsuma mandarins but still green. November 2011: Sprinkled potassium sulphate and three scoops of Osmocote. May 2012: Pruned heavily leaving some branches and leaves. October 2012: Looks very pretty with lots of new growth. Have selectively removed undesired shoots. Mandarins 9/10Pottsy's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5756 days 24hrs Comments: - Apart from 2010 it has always produced a great crop and one year even 'hid' the passionfruit vine from us as the vine grew over the canopy. We found we had passionfruits when our King Charles Cavalier brought them to us after they dropped. Planted: 2003 Water Given in: Spring Question: Mandarins are usually this year they are tiny - about one fifth of normal size but still nice and sweet to eat!! Why would they be so tiny? Dwarf Mandarin 10/10 M's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5750 days 5hrs Comments: - I only purchased my mandarine tree from Daleys a year ago. I wasnt very confident when it arrived as it was in a little box. It has grown incredibly fast, looks magnificent and we have even had a lovely mandarin which is sweet and delicious. I really dont want to use pesticides but I think we have a few problems: somethings eating the leaves; and something is causing the leaves to curl and drop off. Was this review helpful?
