Planted in the front yard after digging them out of the back yard 2 years ago they had made it up to 3 meters high (alot of pruning) before being cut down to less that half height and placed in milk crates. I can't believe they all survived but luckily they did and they now seem to have stabalised and have started growing. At there feet are lots of Aloevera.

Olive - Frantoio (Cutting) 10/10

Edward3's Edible Fruits
Update: 2018 days 20hrs

Comments: -

Planted this tree to cross-pollinate Kalamata olive on advice from olive plantation owner. Reasonably good crop in 2016. Small olives.

Got a large crop in 2019 and made up 6 large jars of olives. They were fantastic. Can't wait for the next crop.

Since this is an established tree, decided to graft a few other varieties onto it as an experiment - Spanich Queen, Kolossus Kalamata, and Manzanillo - using bark grafting which seems to work very well.

Fruiting Months March

Planted: 2009

Height 2 metres

Growing: In the Ground

Qty: 1

Fruit Harvest: 6 kilograms per Year

First Fruited: 3 Years from purchase in pot

Sun/Shade: Full Sun

Water Given in: Autumn

Pruned By: 20% in Summer

Pollination: No

Pest Control:

Occasional leaf damage by small lacebugs. Need to check regularly and wipe off by hand or spray. If unchecked can damage large number of leaves. Also need to check for caterpillars which occasionally can wipe out a lot of leaves.
