Dwarf Lychee 7/10Emma1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5707 days 22hrs Comments: - I don't like the taste of lychee but my I know a lot of people who do so this tree is for others enjoyment. Dwarf from so I can fit more trees in! It's looking a bit scraggly and may be due to lack of water. Lychee - Kwai May Pink (B3) (Grafted) 10/10 Kate816's Edible FruitsUpdate: 1149 days 5hrs Comments: - This lychee is doing awesome in the ground. Turns out they like slightly acidic soil, so it's been planted next to our blueberry hedge to take advantage of the work already done to acidify that area. It suffered shock and stress when we first planted it, lost all its leaves and appeared dormant over Christmas, however it's green, leafy, happy and thriving now. Still too little t produce, but it attempted to fruit last year (kept our local bees happy!) but dropped all its fruit. Maybe this year or next year we will get a harvest but, even if not, patience is key. Height 1 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 First Fruited: 6 Months from Purchase in Pot Sun/Shade: Full Sun Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Dynamic lifter When I Fertilise: Yearly Was this review helpful? Lychee - Bosworth 3 BJ's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5232 days 23hrs Comments: - Im growing this Kwai Mai Pink (B-3) tree in a pot. Has fruited second year in pot. Very tough compared to other Lychees. Yes | No | Report 9 of 15 people found this review useful CommentsDiana says... [5193 days 10hrs ago]This is great, BJ. I have a dwarf wai chee in a pot, 4 years old and never fruited (it lost all its leaves for a while last year) in central western Brisbane. It sounds as though Bosworth 3 would be better. I have heard Anette McFarlane say that conditions for lychee fruiting are right in Brisbane about once every ten years.BJ says... [5192 days 21hrs ago] Yes Diana, the B-3 will fruit every year here. Many others are biennial at best, but B-3 will crop heavily each year, even with heavy pruning at the right times and in a pot if you can keep it under control. Many other types are unsuited to pots due to their reluctance to fruit after pruning. The other suitable pot specimen is the Salathiel, but it bears biennially, but bears well when it does, and is a much smaller tree with one of the best fruits.sandy31 says... Lychee - Bosworth 3 7/10 Xhristofer's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5412 days 6hrs Comments: - I just love lychees. This tree is only very young and has struggled to get moving. I mulched the tree with mulch purchased from the local rubbish tip and it has taken off. New growth abounding which is a little odd for winter time. All my trees seem to have enjoyed warmer roots. I must admit to have tried a lychee many years ago without success. But they are grown commercially here so perhaps my management wasn't the best. Here's hoping for better luck this time. Lychee - Bosworth 3 2/10Africanaussie's Edible FruitsUpdate: 3797 days 9hrs Planted: 2008 Water Given in: Summer Pruned By: 50% in After Fruiting Question: When we purchased the property there was a mature lychee in the backyard. There have been problems with erinose mite. The last time it fruited, we were able to pick from the lower branches, but the upper ones were attacked by bats. We got an arborist to prune the tree and I wanted the top lopped off, but he pruned it back into a rounded shape. He said lopping the top would killl the tree. It has now leafed out and fruited with all the fruit out of reach. We have bats at night and rainbow lorikeets during the day. My poor hubby picks buckets of fallen fruit which I have been composting. I now think this might be a bad idea as we seem to have flies. They are bigger than the little flies you get when over ripe fruit sits on the counter. They actually look like little cockroaches - brown with a black stripe. 2cm long. We live in Mossman Queensland. I would appreciate any advice on where to go from here. The back garden is awful at the moment with all these little flies, and we have a fruit tree that we get no fruit from.. Was this review helpful?
