Thanks, Michael. I have got in the habit of giving it half a watering can full before I leave for work every morning (and the bananas and fig, and anything fairly new).

This tree would produce fruit every year in the long poly house. As it became to large for it's pot, Greg gave it to me to plant out at my place, back in 1997. Twelve years later it finally produced fruit again (2009)

Dwarf Lychee 7/10

Emma1's Edible Fruits
Update: 5011 days 9hrs

Comments: -

I don't like the taste of lychee but my I know a lot of people who do so this tree is for others enjoyment. Dwarf from so I can fit more trees in! It's looking a bit scraggly and may be due to lack of water.

Loquat - Champagne (Grafted) 10/10

BJ's Edible Fruits
Update: 4536 days 10hrs

Comments: -

I've heard good things about this variety and it is slightly different to the 4 others most easily available. It has just gone in the ground, but it is a beautiful little tree!

-------

2011 - Had a large crop of fruit (around 200) in its first year in ground. Taste is fantastic - a cross between pear and peach with a little tang. Must bag from fruit fly. This is a vigorous grower, but quite dense compared to other loquats.

Where did you manage to find the Champagne variety? I like my Nagasakiwase but had a few other varieties including Champagne that I'd Iike to taste/grow.

The only person i know who still stockes them is Bob McGuffin. He usually has a stall at Chandler markets? and the bogi fair, which is coming up next weekend at Albion.

Put some good growth on this past year, though some of the new growth has been damaged after a particularly heavy frost this week.  It's living in it's big pot up against the north facing side of the house and gets some good warmth through the day.

Lychee - Kwai May Pink (B3) (Grafted) 10/10

Kate816's Edible Fruits
Update: 452 days 16hrs

Comments: -

This lychee is doing awesome in the ground.

Turns out they like slightly acidic soil, so it's been planted next to our blueberry hedge to take advantage of the work already done to acidify that area. It suffered shock and stress when we first planted it, lost all its leaves and appeared dormant over Christmas, however it's green, leafy, happy and thriving now.

Still too little t produce, but it attempted to fruit last year (kept our local bees happy!) but dropped all its fruit. Maybe this year or next year we will get a harvest but, even if not, patience is key.

Xhristofer's Edible Fruits
Update: 4715 days 16hrs

This has been a difficult tree. I've had to transplant it three times. First it was too shaded, then the soil wasn't right and too shallow, but now the soil is deep, free draining and obviously suited to the tree. Its now about 1.8M tall and looking much better than it was. Its only flowered once in the 3 or so years I've had it.

It is only young. I did actually get 1 fruit first year but the possum got it. I have tasted this variety from the orchard in Daleys Nursery and it is very juicy and incredibly tasty. They crop really well but fruit fly may be a problem if you are not onto it.

I found that fruit fly is not the problem, but moths which lay eggs and small grubs then enter the middle of the fruit.
