Macadamia 741 8/10Glennis1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 2241 days 20hrs Comments: - Height 1 mtr (18/01/2012) Height 1.5 mts (20/11/2012) Height 3.5 mts (29/11/2017) This is in the back corner of the garden . Macadamia 741 is supposed to be able to be heavily pruned . Thats why i bought that variety . Because this is an Australian rainforest tree it needs a fertiliser with very little phosphorous . Less that 3% is good . Load the tree up with mulch , and because it is a rainforest tree it doesn't matter if the mulch is right up against the trunk . All plants need sun to grow including rainforest plants . When planting pretend its a rose and cultivate the soil well before planting . They have timid roots so needs a big loosened area to grow well . Excellent drainage in full sun .
Planted: 2011 Height 3.5 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Pruned By: 20% in Fertiliser or Organics Used: low phosphorous When I Fertilise: When Fruiting, Yearly, Winter, Spring Was this review helpful? Macadamia 741 (Grafted) 9/10Jimmy2's Edible FruitsUpdate: 2732 days 17hrs Comments: - quite happy with this type didnt grow much in cooler months but both are going well early summer 2016 second year of flowering. harvested 8 nuts 1st year, this year both trees have a few dozen pollinated nuts. a nice strong structure to the tree. only pest is thin film which develops over leaves which causes that spot to die. only a few leaves are affected so i never bothered with sprays. little care needed very happy Planted: 2011 Height 4 metres Growing: In the Ground First Fruited: 4 Years from purchase in pot Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Winter Pollination: Self Pollination When I Fertilise: Spring Was this review helpful? Macadamia - Tetraphylla (Seedling)VF1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4307 days 23hrs Comments: - Delicious nut that is native to area where I live. This is the prickly-leaf form. Nuts are sweeter raw but are not as good to roast as the smoother leaf form. Food source for Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos. Attractive and hardy tree. Dwarf Macadamia (Grafted)Lissa's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4785 days 23hrs Comments: - Recommended for a small backyard, but extremely slow growing. Overhung by other plants now so probably not getting as much sun as it needs. Little worried about the dogs swallowing the kernels and causing an obstruction. At the rate that this one is growing the dogs will be long dead and fertilising underneath it before it gets any kernals. Planted: 2010 Height 0.25 metres Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Water Given in: Winter After FruitingPollination: Self Pollination Question: Are they always this slow to grow? Was this review helpful?
