Had problems with the cockatoos pulling the unripe fruits off for the first time last year, and also problems with the macadamia nut borer.

Macadamia - Tetraphylla (Seedling)

VF1's Edible Fruits
Update: 5087 days 4hrs

Delicious nut that is native to area where I live.  This is the prickly-leaf form. Nuts are sweeter raw but are not as good to roast as the smoother leaf form. Food source for Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoos.  Attractive and hardy tree.

Dwarf Macadamia 5/10

GardenOfColumba's Edible Fruits

Comments: - My favourite nut of all time. After 1 year it has had very little growth and consistently yellow leaves. Thinking of moving it to a more protected position and giving it manganese in the new hole.

Planted in part shade position, well mluched, watered etc. Was doing okay, then I gave it Seasol and it seemingly got burned and quickly died. Will check before Seasolling again. But in its place is a native gardenia who absolutely loves the trouble spot.

Dwarf Macadamia 3/10

Paulngen's Edible Fruits
Update: 6143 days 18hrs

Comments: -

The tree has been planted about 2 years. It is still pretty small - approx 1m tall, does not seem to grow real fast. Have not been doing much in terms of maintenance except occasional fertilizing - manure, seaweed. Currently flowering for the first time despite small size - at least 15 stalks. Flowers appear to be partly falling before they open. Many little insects - looks like mites - attached to the flowers. Tried spraying with eco-oil, not sure if it will work.

Dwarf Macadamia (Grafted)

Lissa's Edible Fruits
Update: 5565 days 4hrs

Comments: -

Recommended for a small backyard, but extremely slow growing. Overhung by other plants now so probably not getting as much sun as it needs.

Little worried about the dogs swallowing the kernels and causing an obstruction. At the rate that this one is growing the dogs will be long dead and fertilising underneath it before it gets any kernals.
