Custard Apple - African Pride (Grafted)

Edward3's Edible Fruits
Update: 312 days 7hrs

Comments: - Said to be delicious and not requiring hand pollination, so want to try growing this. In 2022 most branches dried up so were trimmed off. Remaining small branch above graft survived and is growing well, so fingers crossed. Suspect the roots are very susceptible to phytophthora, so am applying Yates Anti Rot spray on leaves once in Winter and again in early Spring. This sems to have helped. However, the single branch is not making any progress.

Height 1 metres

Growing: In the Ground

Said to be delicious, with fewer seeds, and not requiring hand pollination, so want to try growing this.Set 2 fruits in 2023, but syddenly all leaves dried up, so I removed the fruits and will wait to see if the tree will recover. Unfortunately, I found collar rot next to the soil and the tree died.

Have planted a new tree in 2024 and am monitoring it for any sign of fungus. Have applied Yates Anti Rot in Spring, and so far so good.

Plant arrived in in Feb 2020 in great condition with soil still damp. Will plant this into a pot after 1-2 weeks outside and provide updates.

May 2020 - slowly, but consistently, growing since potting. We will see how it copes with winter in Toowoomba - may have to bring it inside on cool nights.

Winter 2020: Brought inside every night.

Jan 2021: Has put on a lot of new growth, now in 45L planter bag. Flowered, but set no fruit.

September 2021: Looks worse for wear after staying outside in Toowoomba winter, but survived and putting on new growth.

Rollinia - Brazilian Custard Apple (Seedling) 9/10

Bruada1's Edible Fruits
Update: 2309 days 6hrs

Comments: -

I purchased this Rollinia bout 4 years ago out at Holliways Beach Markets off a lad down from Juletten selling tropical fruit trees. It sat around in it's pot for a couple of years till I got round to planting it out. Decided to try to top it at about 1 meter and pull the branchers out and tying them down till they stayed there, as I heard they are shallow rooted and will blow over in a blow so by keeping it low hope to not loose it in a cyclone and also make it easy to pick fruit. Maby would have toped it at 1-1/2 to 2 meters if doing it again to allow more room to spread fertliser and mulch underneath as this seems to be working fine. This is the first time it has fruited.
