Green shoot coming out from a few buds today (19 Aug 2012)

Have grown to a meter tall on 20 Nov 2012.

Excellent growth during the summer season. Am now waiting for the winter months to start pruning. Applied blood and bones on 1.3.13.

Like Fantasy, little clusters of fruits appeared in October 2013. Hopeful of tasting the fruit in summer (early 2014).

Looking forward to it fruiting this year. Bore some fruits last year but due to neglect, all eaten by birds. I can already see clusters of grapes forming.

Ate some fruits but most eaten by birds. Fertilised it during spring and have high hopes for all my grape vines'

Unlike the Fantasy and Centennial variety, there were no little clusters of fruits although all three were planted around the same time. Perhaps i bought this from Bunnings instead of Perry. It grows the fastest of the three though.

This is actually the Centennial variety and NOT Crimson.

Like the Centennial and Fantasy, I am hoping to taste its fruits this summer. Have been fertilising and watering the grape vines regularly.Promise myself to net the vines to prevent the birds from eating the grapes.

Tasted the first bunch of grapes in June 14. Sweet and seedless. :) Not as robust as the Centennial on its right or Crimson on the left.

Comments: - Planted on the 18th November this year, in a pot next to my pergola. Hoping that it will grow up the side and at least cover some of the top, as I have no cover because they keep getting torn off by the wind.

Hi Mish, I love your pergola. Grapes are excellent for growing over a pergola, as they have dense, large leaves in summer and they don't tend to drop the leaves during the growing season, also they live a long time. It feels about 5 degrees cooler when I walk under my grape from another part of the garden. Diana.

If you want it to get up on the pergola, consider how you might encourage it to get there. e.g. how many stalks / branches do you need? I'd prune any you don't. e.g. maybe keep 3 or 4 only , 1 or 2 to go up, 1 left, 1 right. When they are in place you can tip prune to get branching. A framework you designed should make later pruning for fruit easier. Alternatively if you want it to spread through the wire, you could spread out the branches on it and tip prune often.
