Macadamia species
It isn't any wonder that the macadamia nut tree from Australia is regarded as the best quality nut in the world. The nuts are sweet and can be enjoyed eaten raw, roasted, fried, chocolate coated, candied, made into nut butters, biscuits, cakes and pies. They have a great crunchy texture. The two edible species M. tetraphylla (Northern NSW) and M. integrifolia(S.E. Qld) make up most of the commercial varieties below. Warning: Macadamia kernels are poisonous to dogs, even sometimes in small amounts, so keep them away from your canine friends.

This tropical tree, native to SE Asia is very popular for its extremely fragrant flowers and weeping branches. The green yellow flowers first appear in early autumn, gradually changing to orange over their long flowering season. Warm and humid conditions produce the most fragrance. The essential oil is distilled from the attractive flowers. Its qualities are said to be antiseptic, aphrodisiac and a tonic to the nervous system. Henna plant is the source of dye used for colouring hair, skin, fingernails and fabrics. A tall, scented flowering shrub that grows best in monsoonal tropical areas. In cooler regions it is best to grow it in a pot as the plant does not survive temperatures below 5 degrees. It is native to northern Africa, Asia, and northern Australia, in semi-arid zones and tropical areas. It produces the most dye when grown in temperatures between 35 and 45 C (95 and 113 F). Ylang Ylang

There is a dwarf ylan ylang tree to 4m, called Desmos chinensis. But it's fragrance is only smelt in the mornings and isn't as strong
