Blood Orange

ManishU's Edible Fruits
Update: 2704 days 5hrs

Comments: -

Update 09-Dec-2011: Most of the tiny fruits have been nibbled by some insects. New pic attached.

Got a couple of fruits last season. The fruits were already forming when we got this from a nursery. But those fruits didnt have the blood red colour in the flesh that i was expecting. It was moderately sweet.

Its flowering again and i hope to get some blood oranges this time.

The tree was here when we bought the house. Has fantastic fruit some of them the size of a newborn baby's head - no joke. Fruits on and off most of the year. The chooks live under it so is fertilized all the time. We have to watch it carefully when heavily laden if it is too windy.

Fruit flesh is streaked with red, rather than fully red. Could be temperature related?

Orange - Joppa (Grafted)

VF1's Edible Fruits
Update: 5034 days 5hrs

Supposed to develop into a small, attractive tree.  Bought this variety as tolerates wind. (Planted on exposed side of steep hill - growing beautifully). The fruit are tasty and juicy, a little seedy - fruit tastes like the drink "Tang"!  Does need watering if it hasn't rained for a few weeks (generally winter).

Growing strongly, nice glossy shrub. Fruit quite nice, but mostly seeds. Was moved to a less crowded spot after being shaded by native raspberries, but it didn't like the sun, so moved back now.

It's either the Mandarin or the Orange. One of them got lost during the drought and the tags fell off ages ago so we can't remember which one... It's covered in fruit, though, so not too long of a wait.
