desert lime Diana's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5225 days 17hrs Comments: - I used to work somewhere where this grew wild, and I used the refreshing fruit for cooking. The crushed leaves are gorgeous too. The other fruit that grew there I have not found for sale anywhere- currant bush Carissa ovata. It has sweet fruit like dates. Finger LimeMOODLUMANSIONS1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 6043 days 17hrs Comments: - I purchased this tree[seedling] earlier in the year from a distributor in the Tweed Valley near Murwillumbah. He has quite an orchard of them and they were fruiting at the time. Apparently Finger Limes fetch a really high price. I was quite sad recently when after an absence of 2 weeks away in September I returned to discover that the tree had died. I don't know who else believes in the resurrection,, but something inside me wouldn't let it go that easily. So after putting the pot into a bucket of water to wet its feet and cutting off the dead branches just in case it still had some life in it, I eventually put it out in the nursery[under the mango tree], and left it to its own devices. Just imagine my excitement[yelps of joy and leaping with delight] when I discovered some new leaves had appeared. Soooo... it wasn't dead after all. Maybe my faith was rewarded. Who knows, but I am so happy. The thing about it all was the main stem of the tree was always green, and it was this that gave me hope. So while there's hope there's a resurrection. I'll get a picture posted soon. Planted: 2009 Height 30 Centimetres Qty: 1 Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report 1 of 3 people found this review useful |
Finger lime - Rainforest pearlMakJeng1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5940 days 6hrs Comments: - My plant is struggling. Semi-deciduous? Jan-2010 it did not make it through the very dry period before recent flooding rain, despite weekly watering. My conclusion is that the soil was too well drained and maybe not sufficiently rich in organic matter. Nearby ornamental natives are thriving. Lime - Sublime (Seedling)VF1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4995 days 9hrs Comments: - Is a relatively new selectively bred, naturally dwarf-growing version of West Indian Lime (aka Key Lime). Same tasting and same size fruit, just a much smaller growing plant that is also a little more tolerant of cold, and wetter growing conditions. Is suitable for pot-growing as max. height about 1.5 metres. I'm giving mine a few more months pot growing ( a lot of new shoots presently), and will be planted out (probably early summer). Flowering prolifically already, and plant is only small (in August). Height 35 Centimetres Growing: In a Pot Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Full Sun Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Citrus, Epsom salts Was this review helpful? Australian Round Lime (Grafted) 9/10 Jan4's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4708 days 23hrs Comments: - This tree was slow to start growing but has been very hardy and productive. Lots of fruit and it makes a great lime pickle. The flavour is similar to finger limes, in fact, I think it is better than some varieties of finger lime I have tasted. It fruits when there is not a lot of other citrus ready ,which is useful. I use it in a variety of recipes. I will post a better photo of the tree when it has some fruit on, but it is middle of winter and it's not doing much just now.

They don't infest the tree every year so I haven't had to do this for a few years. Organic Status:Organic Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report 11 of 27 people found this review useful |
