Does not need full sun.  Large sweet fruit when thinned.  Reliable producer.  I never had problems with birds eating my fruit until last year and this year they were early and vicious.  I had to net the tree this year.

My loquat came from Daleys and I was a little hesitant to proceed with my purchase due to our tropical climate. It has been in the ground for a year and I chose my site carefully. So far so good - the new growth on the top has come since it has been in the ground.

Loquat - Enormity (Grafted) 7/10

This is a very sick loquat! It is very exposed and was a bad choice of plant from the start - as the graft was so low on the trunk. With the constant wind and salinity it has not fared well.

I recently discovered a large stem canker (collar rot) hiding under the bark at the graft point - which just peeled away. I have scraped it back and treated but it probably won't survive.

None except for copper paint for canker.

Hardy tree that survives neglect. Produces very early fruit for the season. Worth growing for these reasons. Fruit is very pleasant to eat despite the large stone.
