Lemons are grown widely under tropical and sub-tropical climatic conditions. The main variety is the Eureka preferred for its heavy and consistent cropping. Other excellent varieties include Villafranca, Verna and Meyer.

Lemon - Meyer

The popular Meyer is not a true lemon but likely to be a natural hybrid between a lemon and an orange. The lower acidity and reduced bitterness makes it one of the most widely grown home-garden varieties. Very hardy and prolific.

Bush Lemon Tree

This naturalized lemon grows wild in subtropical Australia. They are very hardy, have a thick skin with a true lemon flavour. Grows to about 4m in a sunny position. The skin makes a good zest for cooking.

Lemon - Dwarf Meyer

This popular variety of 'lemon' is not a true lemon but likely to be a natural hybrid between a lemon and an orange. Lemon - Eureka

This lemon is probably the most widely grown lemon in the world It’s a true 'bitter' lemon with a high juice and acid content. Can have some fruit most of the year. With good care the fruit is thin-skinned and virtually seedless.

Lemon - Lisbon

A good quality bitter lemon with high juice and acid levels. The fruits of Eureka and Lisbon are very similar. Vigorous and productive, trees are very thorny particularly when young.
