Mulberry - Black English (Grafted) 8/10

Bizibee's Edible Fruits

Actually this is my neighbours tree, a large portion falls on my side of the fence.  I prune and take care of my side, little I can do for the other side.  The kids love picking the berries in summer.  I don't think the berries are as plump as they should be, they feel abit dryish and not juicy but taste sweet.  It's a very large neglected tree.

Mulberry - White Shahtoot (Grafted) 6/10

Paltahead's Edible Fruits
Update: 186 days 18hrs

Comments: -

From all accounts a beautiful, decorative, fruit tree providing shade in summer and deciduous.  Still small at the moment, with new leaf buds about to burst.  I pruned the top of it to try and get it to branch more.  Seems to be happy where it is. Nov 1st 2011- Has grown lateral branches and I managed to find one ( others had dropped off) large, plump fruit about 10 cm long- really impressive!  Tasted sweet but still not ripe enough. Very promising! I am sure will take off during Summer.

Fruit Harvest: 2 Fruit Per Year

Love the large green leaves and looking forward to sampling the fruit of course!    Also, being decidous I hve planted next to our deck to provide shade in summer but let in the winter sun. Hope it grows a lot more this spring onwards.

Mulberry - White Shahtoot (Grafted)

Cam's Edible Fruits
Update: 469 days 14hrs

The Red Shahtoot I bought last year produced fruits within 2 months, I was so impressed with the performance that I decided to try out the White Shahtoot as well. Both white and red varieties are said to tolerate clayey soil very well which is great because some parts of my backyard's soil is clayey, and the thought of reaping the fruits of these plants without the need to improving the surrounding soil quality is too good to be true.

I ordered this tree from Daleys during one of the hottest weeks, and yet it looks most healthy. Very impressed. I hope the fruits taste as good as what is suggested.

Dec 2010: Plant is already bearing about 1/2 dozen fruits, hope they don't drop off prematurely like a few of my persimmon trees.

Oct 2010: A branch was broken when I opened the parcel but all is fine. The tree is now planted into 25cm pot, will plant in the ground autumn/spring next year. Can't wait to taste the fruit.

Fruited within its 1st year of planting, as a bare rooted tree. Only a handful, which is bit disappointing. 1 of the branches died but the other is growing well. This is a early season variety. No hassle tree. Doesnt like we feet.

Prune in winter.

Eat fruit straight from the tree while working in the shed or enjoying the back yard, I have espalliered the tree to cover an unattractive fence and as it is a fast grower it has achieved this well. Low maintenance and easy to look after.

Mulberry - Black English (Cutting) 8/10

TimmyDoulos's Edible Fruits
Update: 670 days 13hrs

Bought two bare rooted via mail order from ebay in April 2010.   (They were grown from cuttings.) Immediately planted into large pots and tied to stakes.

Put in a wind protected location but with little sun they looked to struggle. Moved so they are against a north facing wall and they have regained follage and are growing steadily.  Plan to plant most vigorously growing one in the north west corner of the yard - once I get around to removing/relocating the tool shed.

Will give or sell the other unless I can think of a good location in the yard, and can justify two large mulberries in the yard!

Bought because I read that they thrive on neglect (so I can't go wrong), I love the fruit, the kids can climb it as they get older and I have fond childhood memories of climbing and staining clothes with my brother at my grandma's when I was younger!

Violet Cactus's Edible Fruits

This is a very beautiful tree but I have had no fruit from it at all. I did not buy it from Daley's I must add!

It's a very quick grower and we have to prune it every year so that it does not block out the summer sunlight from a lemon tree behind it.

I'd use it as a summer shade tree but as a fruit tree it's not going well.
