My Edible Fruit Trees: Vine WA
Kiwifruit - Bruno (female) (Cutting) 5/10Amanda's Edible FruitsUpdate: 1810 days 11hrs Comments: - Removed. It didn't get enough chill here to flower reliably - even though Bruno needs far less chill than Hayward and should have been ok here. I actually prefer the Kiwiberries anyway.Large vines that need a very strong trellis and resent hot weather and especially hot winds. Need a great deal of water on hot days. Not a water-wise plant here. Doesn't like any alkalinity either - gets chlorosis readily. Planted: 2014 Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Balanced Acid lovers. Little and often during the growing season. Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report 9 of 22 people found this review useful* You need your own My Edibles Page to contribute Quick & Easy |
Passionfruit - Enduro Goldl (Cutting) 8/10Amanda's Edible FruitsUpdate: 1811 days 2hrs Comments: - This is a new hybrid variety here. Produces huge yellow fruits that have a lovely flavour and sweetness. Starts fruiting in it's first season and prolifically. The fruit did tend to take awhile to ripen though and many were affected by the rainy and cool weather in late Autumn/winter. The vine was in a spot that was probably not ideal for winter. I have started a new vine in a much warmer/drier and sunnier (for winter) spot and will see if this works better. Planted: 2017 Sun/Shade: Full Sun Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Slow release organic chook manure pellets, a couple of small side dressing of potash in summer, sometimes Acid lovers fertiliser. Mostly try not to overdo the nitrogen. Was this review helpful? Yes | No | Report 6 of 17 people found this review useful* You need your own My Edibles Page to contribute Quick & Easy |

Passionfruit - Banana (Seedling) 8/10Amanda's Edible FruitsUpdate: 1814 days 11hrs Comments: - Not as tasty as a real passionfruit - but I like them anyway. They fruit when not much else is around, here, so a welcome change from the usual early spring lack of fruit variety. They need a cool root run here and shade from midday onwards in our hot summers. Being so early they beat the fruit fly season also. First Fruited: 1 Years from purchase in pot Sun/Shade: Low Sun Pruned By: 50% in Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Balanced Acid lovers alternating with slow release organic chook manure pellets. [3815 days 11hrs ago] you need two lambs fry. bury one under your passionfruit as you plant it. lambs fry water is brilliant for the passionfruit = lambs fry water is what you soak the lambs fry in before you peel it. dont waste the second lambs fry - re-learn the great taste of lambs fry and onions. feed the plant with liver water onece or twice a year and things will improve.* You need your own My Edibles Page to contribute Quick & Easy |

Grape - Maroo Seedless (Cutting) 5/10Pat1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 3872 days 20hrs Comments: - seedless. My first batch of fruit from this vine last year tasted very incipid. Grape - Crimson Seedless (Cutting) 8/10Pat1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 3872 days 21hrs Comments: - This seedless variety is very vigorous and the fruits are large and sweet and crunchy with good flavour. My favourite grapes so far. Grapes are hard work with all the pruning and spraying required. And then you have to protect the fruit from birds and rats. Still, the quality fruit is worth it. My vines are cane pruned. Fruiting Months March, April, May First Fruited: 36 Months from Purchase in Pot Sun/Shade: Full Sun Pollination: Self Pollination Question: The flowering seems to be unpredictable. Some years it flowers heaps and other years very little. Some first year canes will produce flower shoots while other first year canes won't. I still cannot figure it out. Passionfruit - Select Black (Grafted) 9/10Pat1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 3872 days 21hrs Comments: - i am a big fan of passionfruit juice. I had the Nellie Kellie vine for 5 years and it produced around 600 fruits every year before it died. It likes lots of feed and water and hand pollination will enhance fruit set and fruits full of pulp. Totally yummy when juiced. Also taste fantastic with Miracle fruit! Grape - Maroo SeedlessBJ11_old_address's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4491 days 24hrs Comments: - This plant is designed to screen the fence (between my orange and lemon) and hopefully provide me with some tasty table grapes. It is supported by some special purpose wires spaced about 40cm apart (against the fence). When it was first planted (early 2010) it was just a stick, but it is already covering the fence quicker than I had hoped. It is quite a bushy plant and I imagine I'll need to give it a decent prune to ensure good shape for years to come. There are even baby grapes on it already (October 2010)! In Jan 2011 the grape started wilting so I've removed the baby bunches and pruned the branches that are not where I want. It has since re-shoot and I imagine I'll need to prune again in autumn 2011-2012 has been a bad year for grapes - a late rain split the entire crop and there seems to be a 'disease' attacking the plant (leaves go yellow and fall off). But the plant is growing very fast. A second flowering resulted in a few more bunches that were split by rains just after Christmas! Planted: 2010 Height 1.2 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Full Shade Water Given in: Spring Pollination: Self Pollination Pest Control: None required at this time Was this review helpful? grape - thomuscatBJ11_old_address's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4491 days 24hrs Comments: - The thomuscat is supposed to be a white, seedless grape which is a cross between a sultana and white muscat, but with a strong muscat flavour (yummy ... I hope). It is supposed to mature early to mid-season. I planted it to screen the fence between my lime and orange. It appears to be more interested in growing up rather than out (which is fine). It was just a little stick when I planted it in early 2010. It is planted so that it is near a limestone retaining wall - which seems to keep it happy despite my attempts to acidify the soil in the bed (as there is a lime tree about 1.5 metres from the grape). the 2011-2012 crop was split by a late rain. The plant otherwise seems very happy and growing like a weed Planted: 2012 Height 1.5 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Water Given in: Spring Pollination: Self Pollination Pest Control: Not required at this time Was this review helpful? This one is growing up a wire mesh as a screen for our mini orb rock bathroom. The wallabies have taken a bit of a liking to some of them. They prune the passionfruit and the pawpaws but so far have left everything else alone. Fair is fair I suppose as you can t always have it your own way!!! Grapefruit - Thompson Pink (Grafted)3's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4635 days 11hrs Comments: - This is a sport of the common Marsh grapefruit variety, differentiated from its parent by its pinkish coloured flesh and seedlessness. Apparently the pink colour only develops under ideal growing conditions and I am not sure that it will receive enough heat in our garden. The taste is similar to Marsh. This tree is part of our citrus hedge - a row of citrus trees planted along a north-west facing boundary fence at 1m spacing. The plan is for the trees to grow into an effective hedge that will be kept pruned to about 2m high. We prepared the planting area for the citrus hedge by incorporating "fruit & veg" soil mix into our existing sandy soil. Mushroom compost was worked into the bottom of the planting hole which was then backfilled with more "fruit and veg" mix. The area was lightly mulched with mushroom compost, leaving the area about 8cm around the trunk clear.
