Nectarine - Seedling from Compost (Seedling) 6/10

Nathan's Edible Fruits
Update: 40 days 23hrs

Comments: -

Settled in really happily initially, after a year in a pot. Then, suddenly (and I suspect dog pee, much like a bunch of herbs in the vicinity), it nearly keeled over. Am waiting and seeing if it recovers, but it's not looking very happy at all

I plan to graft some varieties onto it later, but just put it in to establish a root system and get trunk a bit thinker to graft onto

Planted: 2011

Height 0.4 metres

Growing: In the Ground

Sun/Shade: Medium Sun

Water Given in: Spring

Pollination: Self Pollination

When I Fertilise: Spring

Has already produced lovely good sized very sweet fruit.

L's Edible Fruits

A beautiful tree in flower, and I would love to taste some fruit unaffected by fruit fly - maybe next year!

Growing: In a Pot

Fruit Harvest: 0.1 kilograms per Year

First Fruited: 6 Months from Purchase in Pot

Pollination: Cross Pollination

Cross Pollinator Variety: Sunset Peach

Pest Control: Should have bagged the fruit - was attacked terribly by fruit fly and slugs here in Sydney.

Kath's Edible Fruits
Update: 554 days 14hrs

Home to the Wild May fruit fly trap. Attracts lots of honey bees and native sugarbag bees.  Beautiful pink spring blossom.  Fruits prolifically - I need to thin the fruit.  Although this will all be enjoyed by the stunning king parrots.  2010 I an trying mesh bags to protect the fruit from fruit fly and the birds.  Meanwhile the gorgeous King Parrots eat all the unbagged fruit - very green.

So far the mesh bags are working well, although the birds have been pecking at the plums, the nectarines are close to picking.

November 17th - I have just picked the best nectarine I have ever grown.

Cel & Les's Edible Fruits
Update: 939 days 19hrs

Comments: -

Tree is nearly 4 yrs old.  Growing and fruiting beautifully.  Planted on mound and mulched (not too close to trunk).

Sun/Shade: Full Sun

Pest Control:

Copper spray before leaves appear in late winter.  Fruit fly splash or spray if required.  Monitor with traps.

Question:

Even though tree is looking healthy and fruit is growing well the trunk has started oozing silicone looking gum.  There was no apparent damage to trunk.  Does anybody have any ideas what this could be?
