Sept/Oct 2009 Ist time flowering. Planted 2002. Maybe due to the plentiful amounts of fertilizer & Dolomite.  Cut off 3m growth rootstock (Manzanillo Cuttting) Oct 2009, it too was flowering but in small amounts.

Small fruit have developed and should get a small first crop this year or start next year sometime. This tree sits right outside the chook run visible from the kitchen window love the ornamental value of this plant with the silvery leaves. Looking forward to pickling some olives.

Olive - St Helena (Grafted)

Russ3's Edible Fruits
Update: 3716 days 2hrs

Comments: -

Now here is plant with a rich and interesting history. The original Helena Olive was planted in the late 1800%u2019s on St Helena Island, located off the coast of Brisbane in Moreton Bay. This island operated as a high security prison from 1867 to the 1920%u2019s, and is today a heritage National Park. The original olive made its way from Europe to the Island, via a magistrate, and has continued
to thrive in the testing Moreton Bay environment. This plant offer's exceptional fruit and award winning olive oil. The Helena Olive will fruit in the South East Queensland climate, which for an olive is impressive in itself. Suitable for in the garden or on the patio in a pot, the Helena Olive is a beautiful looking tree. Does not like wet feet.

This tough little plant has survived in a tube stock pot all year and remains that way as I haven't found a home fro it yet. Hmm... feeling a little guilty now.
