Dwarf Lemonade (Grafted)

JohnI's Edible Fruits
Update: 111 days 15hrs

Comments: -

Planted May 2011 as part of a citrus hedge along the fence line.

I didn't follow the instructions and cut the top 3rd off the plant when planting. Seems to have resulted in the plant dropping must of its leaves. It has since sprung back with regular watering and feeding.

Picture taken Feb 3rd 2012. Lemonade is the plant on the far left.

Birdy's Edible Fruits
Update: 264 days 14hrs

Comments: -

My mother had 3 huge clumps of these lemon grass so I divided one and took a clump to my new place. They are currently going in the ground, I am not too sure how well they do in the new location but finger cross.

They produce a lovely smell when you brush up against them and I love using them in soups and grill dishes.

lemon - lemonade (Cutting) 10/10

Birdy's Edible Fruits
Update: 264 days 14hrs

Comments: - My mum purchased this lemon 'lemonade' variety a very long time ago. The flavors of this particular variety is amazing! It is not sour like the other variety but rather sweet. I love it so much that I took a cutting from my mum's mature tree 8 years ago. My cutting is now 1.5 high, currently it has 5 large fruits and hundreds of flowers. For a long while, we neglected it. We didn't water it, didn't feed it and yet it contines to flower and fruit for us. It is truely a hardy lemon tree with spectacular tasting fruit. I love it and recommend everyone to suss one out.

Question:

Have I got a dud?  I bought my first meyer as a small bush and has been planted into large pot and grown steadily for three years. Is large and bushy and attractive although leaves yellow at the moment.  BUT this Meyer has THORNS!!!! and not one flower at all in 3 years.

Although this was bought as a dwarf meyer (not from Daleys), I think it is too sour to be a Meyer. It is on its own roots and is only 1m tall but bears heavily. It is a great fruit tree.

Every backyard needs a Meyer Lemon I do like how they are a bit sweeter so you don't need as much sugar when making your home made lemonade.

Lemon - Meyer (Grafted)

Cam's Edible Fruits
Update: 549 days 17hrs

Comments: -

This variety is said to be a cross between a lemon and an orange  so it doesn't have the true acidic/sour/tangy factor like  Eurekas or Lisbon, but it's mild sweetness is good for making refreshing drinks.

Planted in the ground in December 2009.

I have five clumps of this at various spots in the garden. Looking forward to having my own lemongrass for cooking.

Oct 2010 : The five clumps look all brown and dry after winter. The stalks do not look fat enough for harvesting after one year in the ground.

Love this herb. It has a wonderful lemon smell and I use it for making tea.

Oct 2010, last winter every single leaf turned yellowish and dropped. I thought it had given up on me. Came spring and after some pruning, some new leaves are growing. Yipee!

Rhus trilobata

native of SW USA where fruits were used crushed in water for refreshing drink

Seedling I raised in 1988 and transplanted from original planting site in 2008.

Still hasn't frutied and I suspect  that it may need another plant for cross pollination.

Looking for anyone who has this species  and willing to swap divisions or seedlings.
