Lemons (Grafted) 10/10Amanda's Edible FruitsUpdate: 1812 days 13hrs Comments: - Every back yard needs a lemon tree so there's not much more to say really! We have had problems with the Dwarf range here - due to rootstocks - so I have replanted with full size trees now. We have Lisbon lemon which does great - thorny, but nice lemons. Myer...a mild lemon and Eureka - a proper acidic lemon. Planted: 2012 Height 3 metres Growing: In the Ground Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Balanced Acid lovers, little and often (summer) slow release organic chook manure pellets (a little in winter/when dormant) sulphur in spring, iron sulphate in winter or as required. White Sapote - Lemon Gold (Grafted) 8/10Amanda's Edible FruitsUpdate: 1812 days 13hrs Comments: - Scary tree because it wants to grow into a giant here. That's interesting because it behaved totally differently 700km north of here. Doesn't have any leaf drop here either. Wishing I had planted it somewhere else now, and had to cut down the second tree next to it because they were taking over. The roots are invasive so don't plant near pipes, walls etc... Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Any balanced fruit tree fertiliser I have around. Was this review helpful? Lemon - Lisbon (Grafted) 10/10SueBee's Edible FruitsUpdate: 2645 days 21hrs Comments: - Almost Everbearing. Seems to always have some lemons on the way and ripening except for a month or two a year. Kept pruned low to ensure easy picking, open vase shaped centre. Planted in middle of vegie bed to ensure good watering and no weed competition.Ocassionally grow lettuce and radish underneath to keep soil loose. lemon balm close by seems to help with bug prevention. Lemon - Eureka (Grafted) 8/103's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4247 days 18hrs Comments: - This tree was purchased from a hardware store closing down sale for a bargain price. It has held on through suspected neglect at the hardware store, confirmed neglect on my roasting west-facing courtyard, several moves, and spending the last six months in a dark and forgotten corner of the yard. Have finally found a permanent place for it in the garden and it is now getting full sun, retic and lots of seasol. It is holding its fruit for the first time and I hope to finally harvest a lemon this sumer! Lemon - Eureka (Grafted)BJ11_old_address's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4375 days 12hrs Comments: - Everyone needs a true lemon in their garden! This little guy should be vigorous, and hopefully thorn free. I'm trying to grow it as part of a citrus hedge. It hasn't enjoyed the transplant despite the good soil. The Eureka had to get moved in Jan 2012. It was growing faster than I ever anticipated and needed tip pruning every weekend. It has grown over 50cm in less than 6 months despite regular pruning. It has been relocated to where it can grow up taller away from the house. Its width will have to be managed as it is against a fence, but it can still spread and grow up. May 2012 - my attempts to turn this into a hedge failed. It is growing rapidly and seems very content in its current location at the edge of the vegetable garden! Lemonade TreeBJ11_old_address's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4495 days 11hrs Comments: - Planted in a raised bed and pruned to a standard shape the tree seems to be coping with WA soils and summers. It is flowering like crazy and I am pinching the flowers off because it is very young - but clearly very keen to grow and fruit. The leaves are going yellow - so I have tried epsom salts to provide extra magnesium. I've also added some trace elements (including iron). It is healthy but it just doesn't seem happy or as bushy as the orange tree. Additional water is helping. I re-dug the plant, replaced the local soil and replanted to provide better nutrition. This has helped, but the tree almost looks as if it is being attached by something as som tips are dying and leaves appear to be trying to grow back ... but no inspection has revealed any pest. It has only grown 50cm since planting. Planted: 2010 Height 1.5 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Water Given in: Spring Pollination: Self Pollination Pest Control: none Organic Status:Partially Organic Was this review helpful? Lemonade Tree (Grafted)3's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4638 days 22hrs Comments: - I have never sampled a lemonade fruit but have wanted one for many years - the power of a name I suspect! From what I understand, this fruit is a hybrid of unknown parentage which has resulted in a sweet tasting lemon. I am hoping the fruit will become valuable for summer drinks and just for the pleasure of novelty in the garden. This tree is part of our citrus hedge - a row of citrus trees planted along a north-west facing boundary fence at 1m spacing. The plan is for the trees to grow into an effective hedge that will be kept pruned to about 2m high. This particular tree is partially overshadowed by our house, and receives morning sun only. We prepared the planting area for the citrus hedge by incorporating "fruit & veg" soil mix into our existing sandy soil. Mushroom compost was worked into the bottom of the planting hole which was then backfilled with more "fruit and veg" mix. The area was lightly mulched with mushroom compost, leaving the area about 8cm around the trunk clear. White Sapote - Lemon Gold (Grafted) 10/10Amanda19's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4810 days 15hrs Comments: - Both of my Casimiroas are lemon golds. I am thrilled with them - they are tough and cope with everything Geraldton throws at them. Only problem so far has been trying to prune them...they are very 'whippy'. Flowering and fruiting madly (Winter 2010) Easy tree to grow. Nov 2010: took the wind protection away from it - it's getting bashed around a bit now. There is about a doz fruit hanging in there though. Feb 2011: fruit still growing - tree drops most of it leaves after it sets fruit - don't panic - they grow back. Planted: 2007 Height 2 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 2 First Fruited: 3 Years from purchase in pot Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Spring SpringPollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Manure, straw, clay, blood n bone 10% potash When I Fertilise: Winter Pest Control: None needed as yet. Lemon - Eureka (Grafted) 8/10Amanda19's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4903 days 13hrs Comments: - First year in...needs flowers removed. Easy to grow. Powering along Aug 2010: flowering, fruiting - doing what it does. It has a more intense lemon flavour than the Meyer and better for that lemon "tang" in cooking.
