Blueberry - Biloxi (Cutting) 1010501's Edible FruitsUpdate: 1665 days 6hrs Comments: - Plant arrived in Feb 2020 in great condition with soil still damp. Will plant this into a pot after 1-2 weeks outside and provide updates. Planted in Rose, Gardenia, Azalea and Camellia potting mix - after a few weeks had some trouble with leaves turning yellow with green veins and browing of leaf tips. pH testing showed the soil had a neutral pH close to 7. Added some urea to the soil and have gradually seen improvment in the leaves. Flower buds forming May 2020. Jan 2021 after flowering and fruiting (much less prolifically than blueberry burst & kisses), the plant unfortunately died - likely a combination of inconsistent watering over a hot summer & ?soil pH too high. Planted: 2020 Growing: In a Pot Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Pollination: Cross Pollination Cross Pollinator Variety: Sunshine Blue, Blueberry Burst, Blueberry Kisses Was this review helpful? Blueberry - Biloxi (Cutting) 10/10 Homegrownsbest's Edible FruitsUpdate: 2369 days 5hrs Comments: - Had some nice blueberries off the Biloxi, not as big as the Misty, though it's still very young. I've started to (with all my blueberries) remove the flowers and concentrate more on plant growth. I've pruned several weeks ago and already there is new growth. It's currently in full sun (I'm in Ipswich Qld so some fearce summer days) which I'm finding for most of my blueberries the 13 hours a day full sun is just too much to bare so I'm in the process of building a frame to net to assist with some relief from that afternoon sun (and birds of course when fruiting). So I'll see what happens over the coming months. I water almost daily depending on weather. I planted in planter bags and raised garden beds with a BIG bottom layer of course grade pine bark then equal amounts of peat moss, coir peat, and perlite and a really good thick layer of small pine bark on the top. I have 5 berries in the raised garden beds but am about to repot to planter bags as its easier to maintain PH levels, water, feed and relocate if needed to meet different weather conditions, or if you just change your mind which I am prone to do :) 5/12/16 - UPDATE: What a little beauty the Biloxi has turned into! Fruiting like a champion and just beautiful. Got about 3kg off this so far and it's still full of fruit. Just finished completely netting the Blueberries today as birds are becoming a real pest! About 1 metre high now and getting quite bushy. I pruned really well last season before I transplanted from the raised garden beds to the planter bag and its never looked back. Feeding with an organic acid loving slow release fertilser and a Seasol tonic monthly. Watering about every 2nd day (except in this heatwave, it's been most days) and less in Winter. Still in the planter bag and going great guns. I do have many beneficial pollinators for the Biloxi in close proximity which has probably played a significant role in the higher yield. Fruiting Months January, November, December Planted: 2015 Growing: In a Pot Qty: 2 Fruit Harvest: 3 kilograms per Year First Fruited: 2 Months from Purchase in Pot Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Autumn and Spring Summer and SpringPollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Rose gardenia and azalea slow release (high acidity) and organic pellets When I Fertilise: When Fruiting, Yearly, Winter, Spring Pest Control: none yet Was this review helpful? Have 7 different plants do far. Blueberries have proven to be difficult to grow here. Have recently transplanted them into another area of the garden that gets less afternoon sun in summer. The have been planted in Azalea potting mx and peat moss. So far they seem to prefer their new location. Blueberry - Biloxi GardenOfColumba's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4847 days 3hrs Comments: - Looking for a fruit that I like that can replace my sheena's gold hedge. Just trialling it this year, keeping in self watering pots. Have had a few fruit ripen that were on the plant when delivered. The fruit is much better than supermarket berries, sweet and tangy. Planted: 2012 Height 0.3 metres Growing: In a Pot Qty: 3 Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Water Given in: Spring Pollination: No Question: Not looking too happy. Can't remember if I put charcoal in the base of the self-watering pot. Hoping coffee grounds will add enough acidity. Was this review helpful?
