Kumquat - Nagami (Grafted)![]() Update: 3350 days 17hrs Comments: - Growing beautifully, I have my first crop of kumquats this year and I can't wait for the sensational sweet and lively sour little fruits - yummy. A gorgeous tree which is highly ornamental - the main problem I have is that it looks so beautiful in fruit I am reluctant to strip the tree of its bright orange fruit. Kumquat - Meiwa (Grafted) 9/10![]() Update: 3559 days 19hrs Comments: - I think it's a Meiwa, but It could be a calamondin (or something else completely). I'm only going off the round shape of the fruit. Gets attacked by caterpillers every season, which does a bit of damage. Plenty of flowers and small green fruit, but most are eaten by birds or blown off (the wind really is this plant's nemesis) leaving a harvest of generally between 15-60 fruit. fruit are decent size, varying between slightly smaller than a Nagami to double/triple the size. the rind/pith is quite bitter, but the fruits are great in marmalade or stored in alcohol. They do contain viable seeds, and they ripen throughout the year (which is strange because they only flower once a season). I rarely trim the plant, but when I do, it quickly regrows to its former size where it then stays.
