Planted: 2002 Height 7 metres Growing: In the Ground First Fruited: 4 Years from purchase in pot Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Hardly any, some dynamic lifter about once a year thrown on the ground under the tree. Pest Control: Had problems with the cockatoos pulling the unripe fruits off for the first time last year, and also problems with the macadamia nut borer. It took about three years to start fruiting but now we get about a bucket full of nuts each year and it is largley left to fend for itself. Has kicked on well with several flushes already 2nd year in it has stopped growing height but is thickening up and growing branches - leave down low are quite long and some grow weird and twisted but leaves are getting smaller towards the apex - anyone know what causes gnarly twisted leaves? could it be bugs munching new growth as leaves form? Worked out twisted leaves are due to cold but has acclimatised now and is holding 20 nuts March 2019 photo - tree seems to have topped out at 4.5 to 5mt which it is supposed to.do? It has survived 2 wet cold winters. It has not produced any nuts yet, it's still very young. I give it seasol twice a year, spinkle cow manure once a year and have also spinkled some slow release fertilizer.
