Lychee - Kwai May Pink (B3) (Grafted) 10/10![]() Update: 845 days 2hrs Comments: - This lychee is doing awesome in the ground. Turns out they like slightly acidic soil, so it's been planted next to our blueberry hedge to take advantage of the work already done to acidify that area. It suffered shock and stress when we first planted it, lost all its leaves and appeared dormant over Christmas, however it's green, leafy, happy and thriving now. Still too little t produce, but it attempted to fruit last year (kept our local bees happy!) but dropped all its fruit. Maybe this year or next year we will get a harvest but, even if not, patience is key. Apple - Pink lady 9/10![]() Update: 1204 days 2hrs Comments: - Delicious flavour. Much better than from shops. Growing in Katoomba. However, very susceptible to black spot, so much so that I shall be reworking this tree to another less susceptible variety as I am not keen on frequent spraying with fungicide. Fruiting Months May Planted: 2011 Height 2 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 Fruit Harvest: 5 kilograms per Year First Fruited: 3 Years from purchase in pot Sun/Shade: Full Sun Pollination: Cross Pollination Pest Control: Developed apple scab, and I have just read that this variety is very susceptible to this disease. Difficult to control. Requires monthly fungicide spray. But worth the effort because of the great taste. Organic Status:Organic Was this review helpful? Dwarf Avocado - Pinkerton (A) (Grafted)![]() Update: 1373 days 20hrs Comments: - Plant arrived in in Feb 2020 in great condition with soil still damp. Will plant this into a pot after 1-2 weeks outside and provide updates. May 2020 - No growth or changes in tree until the leaves all started slowly dropping in April - I think I wasn't watering enough out of fear of root rot. However new buds formed as the last leaves were coming off and there is now new growth. We will see how it copes with winter in Toowoomba - may have to bring it inside on cool nights. There has already been a night of 5 degs - I'm wondering whether some of the new buds have been damaged (turned grey). Winter 2020 - Brought to Brisbane out of fear of Toowoomba winter causing damage. Unfortunately a possum stripped the plant of every leaf! Autumn 2021 - has rebounded well since possum attack. Had a scare when repotted into 45L planter bag from 30cm plastic pot. Noticed fungus gnats buzzing around soil. Turns out the planter bags drain poorly when positioned directly on concrete/soil. Once pot feet (improvised short sections of PVC pipe) were added, problem was solved. September 2021 - Currently in 45L planter bag. Survived Toowoomba winter outside in pot with minimal leaf loss (under shade cloth so no frost could settle). Currently having flush of new growth.
