White Sapote - Pike (Grafted) 9/10

Paula-f's Edible Fruits
Update: 96 days 3hrs

Comments: -

This tree fruited after having it in the ground for only a year.  The first couple of fruits it produced had quite a bitter aftertaste, and I was ready to pull it out, but the ones I have harvested this year were beautiful.  I find you have to catch them when they are just turning soft, as shortly afterwards they will ripen too quickly..........and drop from the tree, causing them to go splat!!!!!!!!

Haven't quite worked out what it tastes like yet, as there are a number of flavours combined.

This is a lovely looking tree with quite a weeping habit.

Planted: 2008

Height 1.5 metres

Growing: In the Ground

Qty: 1

Sun/Shade: Medium Sun

Pollination: Cross Pollination

Fertiliser or Organics Used: compost, horse manure and lucerne mulch.

When I Fertilise: Spring

Pest Control:

None as yet, but will have to cover the fruit from birds, fruit bats, and fruit fly.

Organic Status:Partially Organic

White Sapote - Seedling (Seedling) 6/10

Cool Climate's Edible Fruits
Update: 175 days 1hrs

Comments: -

I don't know what variety this is as I bought it from Diggers and they didn't say. I've read that it will survive down to -5 when mature, and the fruit sounds amazing, so I thought I'd give it a go. Doing well in the ground so far, planted in early spring and protected with an empty water tube, so we'll see how it copes with winter.

Lovely looking tree and has grown very rapidly. New growth has been burnt in it's first Summer, but this year with shadecloth on hottest days no problems. Flowering and tiny fruits set, so far none have matured. Fingers crossed this year.

This variety allways has fruit on it! The first fruits appeard about a month after purchase and ever since it has continuously had at least two fruits on.

I recently transplanted it into the ground. It promptly lost half its leaves, but is shooting new leaves and limbs vigorously.

White Sapote - Lemon Gold (Grafted) 10/10

Amanda's Edible Fruits
Update: 452 days 19hrs

Comments: -

Both of my Casimiroas are lemon golds.

I am thrilled with them - they are tough and cope with everything Geraldton throws at them.

Only problem so far has been trying to prune them...they are very 'whippy'.

Flowering and fruiting madly (Winter 2010) Easy tree to grow.

Nov 2010: took the wind protection away from it - it's getting bashed around a bit now. There is about a doz fruit hanging in there though.

Feb 2011: fruit still growing - tree drops most of it leaves after it sets fruit - don't panic - they grow back.

Planted at the very top of my orchard, a hard spot as it will never benefit from any good things like mulch, water or fertilizer which I will not be dragging up the hill.  Hopefully it will be tough enough to thrive up there.

White Sapote - Ortega (Grafted) 10/10

JUJUBE FOR SALE IN MELBOURNE's Edible Fruits
Update: 506 days 24hrs

Comments: -

Lovely fruits with avocado /sweet custard creamy flavour without fiberous texture. Very easy to look after. Prone to magnesium deficiency (yellow leaves in spring) but is quite easy to manage with epsom salt. Highly recommended. Citrus fertilizer and potash should be given once a year in Spring.

This year, not many fruits and very small and dropped very young. I think too much rain caused this condition.

Planted: 2002

Height 4 metres

Growing: In the Ground

Fruit Harvest: 20 kilograms per Year

When I Fertilise: When Fruiting and Spring

Bag when fruits are in light yellow or pale stage. Can be picked when mature, store in the fridge up to 2 weeks. Will ripe after being taken out.
