Avocado - Wurtz (A) (Grafted) 8/10

HappyEarth's Edible Fruits
Update: 132 days 0hrs

Comments: - Hard trees to get established - starting to do well now after a couple of years in the ground.  Literally planted by placing on top of the soil and mounding around it with a mixture of potting mix and compost.  Also, are growing temporary shade trees around it to provide partial shade for the young avocado in its first few years.  I feel this has made a big difference to the success of growing avocados after a couple of early failures.  Good Luck!

Avocado - Seedling

Kathy's Edible Fruits
Update: 144 days 17hrs

Comments: -

Who knows what this one is?. It came up in my friend Mark's compost and it's pretty so I kept it. Probably won't fruit for 10 years but I am a patient woman! :O)

Very thirst. The new growth droops very visibily so you can tell when it needs a drink.

Quite vigorous and the stems and branches seem quite juicey rather than woody.

Pollination: No

Fertiliser or Organics Used: Charlie Carp, Seasol, Dynamic Lifter, Blood and Bone, worm jouce (in rotation)

Cool Climate's Edible Fruits
Update: 174 days 19hrs

Comments: -

It's a beautiful looking tree and I'm so pleased that it's surviving... we get -7 degree frosts here! Flowered for the first time 2011, so I'm hoping for fruit next year. I'm putting a seedling avocado I've grown in a pot next to it, in case that improves pollination/fruiting.

Had to hard prune 2 x hass, due to animal attack (maybe possums) They eat the bark & near totally ring the tree. Trees were 5m tall, now down to main stump 1 metre. Have also 3 other Hass which did not get attacked, but they only have a few flowers.

Avocado - Secondo (A) (Grafted) 8/10

Getafix's Edible Fruits
Update: 620 days 14hrs

Comments: -

Sept 2010: The fruit from this variety was rated very highly by Daley's staff, and it is also meant to fruit well without a pollinator, so i thought i'd give it a go. We have heavy clay soil, so i'm in the process of preparing its eventual spot in the garden, and in the meantime it's in a pot.

Since the weather has started to warm up, it has put on a lot of new growth and looking pretty healthy in general

Avocado - Secondo (A) (Grafted) 1/10

Ernie's Edible Fruits
Update: 638 days 12hrs

Comments: -

I got a secondo about 4 months ago. Very healthy tree. Pruned it slightly in winter and it seemed dorment for a few months. After the first half of winter it started to grow little buds and now 1 week before spring they are just about to explode. Can't wait until spring and maybe i get some fruit  in the second (secondo) year. Very pleased with the quality of the tree. Very recommendable.

Thanks

Ernie Wust
