Planted Dec 09.  It truly is amazing how fast these plants grow.  Was the baby in the new garden, is close to being the big daddy.

Had a fruit going but frost got it.  Is in a bit of hibernation but new leaves starting to appear September 2010.

Is now May 2011 and the tree is covered in large fruit but none has ripened do not know if it will last over winter though.

Lyn's Edible Fruits
Update: 503 days 14hrs

Comments: - Grew very fast from seedling & fruited within the first year.  Fruit very large football size, red/pink inside with small seed cavity and very sweet flavour.   I watered it when needed and fertilized about every 3 months.  Fruit ripened late summer.  I pruned the plant at 1 meter by pinching out the top 2-3cms.  This makes it branch out and not grow so tall, although it does set back the growth a bit.  It now has four heads and this year has fruit forming on each one.

Fruiting Months May and June

Planted: 2009

Growing: In the Ground

Iogikuma's Edible Fruits
Update: 559 days 19hrs

Planted them in a very sunny and protected position. Grew very quickly and now, at about 1.5m are flowering for the first time about 6 months after planting. Was worried that it might not be warm enough here in Sydney for bisexual reds, but so far so good. 2 nights of frost - lost all leaves - then months to recover.

Iogikuma's Edible Fruits
Update: 632 days 13hrs

Comments: -

As suggested by Daley's, bought 2 pots for a total of 4 plants hoping to get at least one male. Growing vigorously. Major setback due to 2 frosty nigjhts which we have never had before. The plants lost a lot of top leaves but are recovering well. Seem to have had bad luck - all 4 seem to be female, so have no male to polinate them. Need to order another pot to try to get a male.

Grew very well all spring, summer and autumn. Lost all leaves to frost. One small new leaf still survives. I am confident this will continue to grow come spring.

Died this winter due to frost damage.

Want to know if there is a frost tolerant variety

A fruit we eat a lot of and an important medicinal. I would probably need to plant seedlings both male and female and still might be unreliable so I might propagate some more Babaco as substitute.

My best darling pawpaw, its up past my knees now and getting some fine big leaves the size of  my hand - still little but doing great for this area. I will be interested to see how it does here, we get at least 5 months of warm weather but we do get a frost every now and then. i hope that it will be big enough before winter to cope.

Karlos's Edible Fruits
Update: 1002 days 7hrs

Comments: -

Ok well i got these paw paws from dales in late to early october 08. I planted them in the ground in late novermber. They are 6-7 feet tall now and goin strong apart from all the rain we had. I built up some soil next to my green house on the north facing slope. I added lime to the soil and cow manure. I watered them 3-4 times a week when I first planted them, they started to fruit in the first 4 months of planting. I also kept mulch up to them. Then only problem I am having is after all the rain we had it has washed all the lime out of the soil and the leaves are goin yellow but its not a problem cause i have added more dolla mite and cow manure mulch so they should do well again soon coming into the warmer season. Well thats about it.
