I forgot what type of olive tree this is, but I do remember I bought it from a nursery and the  main reason I bought it was because it produced very large fleshy olives.  I've had in a pot for 2 years.  It's not doing as well as I'd like it to.

'Swan Hill' is a non-fruiting cv. found here in Swan Hill, Vic.
material was taken to the USA in the 1962
by Dr Hudson Hartmann PhD. and found to produce no pollen or fruit.
It is now very widely planted in many municipalities across USA as a low allergenic, non-messy tree for amenity planting.

There is a nursery in Arizona that holds the sole rights to propagation of this cultivar despite this it remains a relatively unknown tree in Australia.

I grow it as a curiosity and because the tree originated from this district.

This plant is said to set fruits early and is more suitable in warmer areas. Why did it buy it then? Well it was my husband who bought it. He knew I wanted an olive tree, so when he saw the trees at Bunnings he picked this tree out of the lot.  ( *.* )

We planted this tree on the nature strip facing north/east. It has rather survived it's first Winter quite well, I guess olive trees in general are quite tough. There's hardly any growth in height but I see a lot of flower buds forming on the tree.

My mum went and impulsively purchased this olive tree 3-4 years ago. She neglected it, didn't water it, left it in the pot for the entire time. When I moved a year ago, mum gave me the plant because she had nowhere to put it. I planted it in the ground in the corner of our property. 

Even though it was neglected, the plant sprouted flowers for us within months of being planted and gave us at least a kilogram worth of dark large olives. We left it on the tree hoping to collect them after a few more weeks...don't know what happened but they all disappeared! Would anyone know if birds eat olives? Or should I be cautious of my neighbours? lol.
