Muscadine Grape - Adonis (Cutting) 8/10

GlenMac's Edible Fruits
Update: 2025 days 18hrs

Comments: - Liked the idea of a grape that's suited to the hot humid western Sydney climate and is able to handle humidity without the need for spraying. Not disappointed by this native grape of Texas and Florida. Tough skins but very tasty distinctive flavour. Adonis is large and juicy ... very fleshy, with pips. Puts on rampant growth, so make sure it's pruned each year (autumn/winter). A helpful tip: I Googled for info on how to manage muscadine grapes successfully. Lots of help from USA ... YouTube videos. Look for the vids from Ison and follow their pruning and growing techniques.

Fruiting Months February, March, April

Planted: 2016

Height 2.5 metres

Growing: In the Ground

Qty: 2

Fruit Harvest: 8 kilograms per Year

Sun/Shade: Full Sun

Water Given in: Autumn and Spring

Summer and Spring

Pollination: No

Fertiliser or Organics Used: Mushroom compost and pigeon poo

When I Fertilise: Spring

Pest Control:

Netted when noticed fruit fly interested. Draped fruit fly netting around most of vine. Grapes were saved and had good harvest ... 6-8kgs on the one vine. Will be harder to do next season ... vine will cover larger area.

Grapefruit - Ruby Red (Grafted)

Pretty. Growing moderately fast. A few flowers spring 2017 delivering my first fruit (one) in September 2018 which was quite red inside and tasted very good, although skin was more dark yellow rather than pink.

Has a leaf yellowing problem for which I tried using Epsom salts foliar spray. Not sure if it helped (placebo effect...)
