The spot has almost 360 protection from wind. House on one side, shed on the other, fence behind and a raised garden bed infront with shade cloth. Soil is high organic mix, with 20% clay and 10% sand. Mango - R2E2 (Grafted) 8/10![]() Update: 2356 days 1hrs Comments: - Update 09-Dec-2011: Got around 2-3 tiny fruits which dropped before they matured. Just one fruit remaining which is as big as a closed fist at the moment. New pic attached. I love mangoes, my favourite being the Alphonse variety. But unfortunately we do not get it here in Australia. Daleys is seeking propogation material for the last 2 years :( The variety closest to alphonse i believe is the bowen variety. But I have planted the R2E2 variety which produce a larger fruit and is equally sweet. This tree was in my apartment balcony in a pot for about a year before i planted it into the ground last year. And about a month later it flowered and produced 3 lovely fruits :) This year it has already started flowering profusely (pic). I might have to prematurely remove the fruits in december coz i dont think this little tree will be able to bear the weght of the fruits if it holds on to 3 or more. Mango - Bowen Seedling (Seedling) 5/10![]() Update: 2393 days 22hrs Comments: - This tree is much too big for my garden, and needs constant cutting back. May try to lop it or top work other varieties. Received it as a gift, rescued pot bound from a local nursery. Have grafted two Nam Doc Mai to one limb with success. Only fruit every two or three years due to climate, will remove it. Fruiting Months January, February, March Planted: 2001 Height 5 metres Growing: In the Ground Qty: 1 First Fruited: 3 Years from purchase in pot Water Given in: Autumn Pruned By: 25% in Summer Pollination: No Pest Control: cue-lure amulet and organic bait spray Was this review helpful? Mango - Glenn (Grafted) 6/10![]() Update: 2428 days 8hrs Comments: - The first year I got this plant instead of taking off the flowers I let it fruit and although a possum took one there was still one left for me. The texture was by far the best I have ever had. It was almost like butter it was that amazing. Fruiting Months February and March Planted: 2004 Height 2 metres Growing: In a Pot Qty: 1 Fruit Harvest: 2 Fruit Per Year First Fruited: 1 Years from purchase in pot Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Water Given in: Spring Pruned By: 30% in Spring Pollination: No Fertiliser or Organics Used: All Round Fertiliser When I Fertilise: When Fruiting Pest Control: Defenitely need some fungal spray. Last season was bad and I lost all my very promising mangos. It could have been a really bad season (2008) though for mangos because I notice a lot of other trees that fruited in previous years did Organic Status:Partially Organic Question: What brands of fungus spray would be good for this? Mango - Keitt (Grafted)![]() Update: 2581 days 22hrs Comments: - Who doesn't like Mangos? I have a huge old Common tree in my yard, I am in the process of Topworking it with Brooks, Keitt, KP, R2E2 and NamDocMai, that's where the Frankenmango name comes from. Plan is to have Mangos early thru late on the same large tree; with the odd off season fruit that the remnant Common branches tend to produce up here I should have mangos 6 or 8 months of the year!
