Rainbow White Sapote

Linton's Edible Fruits
Update: 1553 days 2hrs

Comments: - White Sapote - RainbowCasimiroa edulis There's not a lot of information about the Rainbow variety but the general consensus seems to be that it produces an excellent tasting fruit of good size. Fruiting now so will get to try the fruit first hand shortly. Easy to grow here in Melbourne.

Planted: 2017

Height 1 metres

Growing: In a Pot

White Sapote - Lemon Gold (Grafted) 9/10

Figbarron's Edible Fruits
Update: 3157 days 16hrs

Comments: -

Before i moved to Australia i used to have this fruit back home a lot as a young child. I loved it. The instant i discovered them for sale on Daleys I immediately bought one for nolstalgia's sake and the awesome taste. The tree was a bit quiet during winter when i got it and has since pushed some new lateral buds that will hopefully branch out as the weather gets warmer. It has been re-potted into a 300mm pot with holes lined with shade cloth for air pruning. This promotes more firous roots that are good at taking up nutrients and moisture.

I will get a budwood to graft  a different variety onto it when its a bit stronger.

Where the heck did you find a Sue Belle? :)
Markmelb says... [3206 days 2hrs ago]
Hi ish - dont know where you are as seen you on a Sapodilla post recently but a guy in melbourne was selling these grafted a couple years ago - he has just about all including Rainbow but hes moving and may not be grafting in future but Bullen Art and Garden may have some now but not cheap and they dont post
Ish says... [3203 days 20hrs ago]
Hi Mark, thanks for that... Yes, I was trying to hunt down the fabled Krasuey Sapodilla ;) I am in Brissie. Any chance you might have details for the Melbourne guy? Love to catch him before he moves - Rainbow and Suebelle seem rare as hens teeth. Not knocking my Lemon Gold, but still.... ;) Ish
health101orgarticles1 says... [3198 days 20hrs ago]
What fertiliser do you use, if any? Where at the tree do you put the fertiliser?
Markmelb says... [3179 days 15hrs ago]
I use slow release suitable for citrus & eco seaweed ish - the guy who grafts & sells white sapotes in Melb doesnt post plants and is moving home & may not be doing anymore for a while - i could be when my seedlings are grown enough
Ish says... [3178 days 20hrs ago]
Well, I would be very happy to pay for your grafting handiwork... Can honestly say I thought they were only available in the US!

JUJUBEFORSALEINMELBOURNE1's Edible Fruits
Update: 5231 days 24hrs

Comments: -

Lovely fruits with avocado /sweet custard creamy flavour without fiberous texture. Very easy to look after. Prone to magnesium deficiency (yellow leaves in spring) but is quite easy to manage with epsom salt. Highly recommended. Citrus fertilizer and potash should be given once a year in Spring.

This year, not many fruits and very small and dropped very young. I think too much rain caused this condition.

Planted: 2002

Height 4 metres

Growing: In the Ground

Qty: 3

Fruit Harvest: 20 kilograms per Year

First Fruited: 1 Years from purchase in pot

Sun/Shade: Full Sun

Water Given in: Autumn

Pruned By: 10% in Spring

Pollination: Cross Pollination

When I Fertilise: When Fruiting and Spring

Pest Control:

Bag when fruits are in light yellow or pale stage. Can be picked when mature, store in the fridge up to 2 weeks. Will ripe after being taken out.

Nice looking Ortega fruit, they seem much bigger than I imagined. I boughtone of these from a fruit stall the other day as a pollinator for Vista and Chris varieties
