Dec 2011 - I've had this in the ground around 1.5 years and it has just flowered and set around 40 fruits to a size where most should mature. Cant wait!

Black Sapote - Seedling (Seedling)

ManishU's Edible Fruits
Update: 167 days 15hrs

Update:09-Dec-2011: Growing slowly but surely.

Never tasted this chocolate pudding fruit either and i hear its the best. Love the glossy leaves.

I know that this seedling will form into a huge tree if not pruned. I intend to keep it small with regular pruning.

Question: When will this seedling produce fruit?

This is a unknown seedling tree and has been in for about 8 years.  Every year up to now, it has been covered in flowers......but they have all dropped off.  This year I have 3 that have actually set, and look to hold on ok.

Very fast growing tree and loves all the water it can get.

Black Sapote - Chocolate (Grafted)

BJ's Edible Fruits
Update: 611 days 11hrs

I'm not actually sure of the 'type' of Black Sapote I have. Generic label and no type listed. Only in the ground a little while. Slow to start, but with a bit of extra water and lots of mulch it is now flushing new leaves. Beautiful new growth.

I didn't want to persist with a seedling tree in my limited space here in  the garden, so I dug up this tree before it got too big and replaced with a Bernicker variety.

Getting some decent growth on it now even though the pot is really not suited to it, still quite decorative though.  Leaves often show yellowing and dark green veins but doesn't appear to be deficient as they always come good with out any additives.

Make sure fruit is well ripened as it can burn mouth and throat if underripe.
