Dwarf Apple - Akane![]() Update: 1900 days 10hrs Comments: - This variety i think is too high chill for my area. You can see the buds didn't really open vrey well this year and there was no additional height from last year. Cill issues seem to effect the top of the plant more. I'm grafting on lwer chill varieties and will try misting and shading during winter to get more chill. Planted: 2017 Growing: In the Ground Was this review helpful? Apple - Huonville Crab Apple (Grafted) 9/10![]() Update: 2683 days 19hrs Comments: - First time to bear fruit after four years in a pot and boy its loaded. The fruit is small to medium size because it is a cross between a regular apple and a crab apple. It's got a pink flesh with a balanced flavor of sweetness and acidity. The tree is healthy, and a prolific bearer as evidenced by the image i have uploaded from my tree, pest free ATM. It's ornamental in itself because of the reddish leaves and stems Just nice for kids' lunch box. There is a similar apple released recently called Red Love apple bred from Switzerland by Markus Kobelt. Mine is discovered by Bob Magnus of Woodbridge Nursery growing in Huonville, Tassie. Growing as a 'Y' espalier ATM in my garden. Fruiting Months March and April Planted: 2014 Height 1.5 metres Growing: In a Pot Qty: 1 Fruit Harvest: 10 kilograms per Year First Fruited: 4 Years from purchase in pot Sun/Shade: Full Sun Water Given in: Spring SpringPollination: Cross Pollination Cross Pollinator Variety: Red Fuji Fertiliser or Organics Used: dyna lifter, seasol, citrus fert, guano, epsom salt, sulphate of potash When I Fertilise: Spring Pest Control: pest free so far Organic Status:Partially Organic Was this review helpful? Dwarf Apple - Granny Smith (Grafted) 8/10![]() Update: 3369 days 6hrs Comments: - I prefer eating this over a pink lady apple any day. Not only they're more juicier but their flesh has a better texture with more of a crisp crunch. We ended up purchasing this after we found out that one of our fruit trees wasn't a green apple tree but a Quince tree (but that's another story lol)!
