Dwarf Apple - Royal Gala (Grafted) 10/10Slicko's Edible FruitsUpdate: 2774 days 21hrs Comments: - I bought the book "Growing Apples in the Tropics" by Kevin Hauser from Kufflel Creek Nursery where he advocates that it is possible to obtain decent apple crops from varieties that have chill hours above those accepted as low chill varieties and that he sells his trees into the warmer areas of Africa. So my Dwarf Royal Gala and Granny Smith are going to be grown using his methods. Already my Anna and Tropic sweet are flowering using his methods. Not enough yet for pollination but we are still 2 weeks from spring! Jan 2017: Royal Gala must be self fertile to some degree as the tree is setting fruit where ever it flowers. There is not anything else in flower in the garden and being iin a sub tropic cl imate I don't expect that there would be anyone else close by trying the same thing. Anyhow it will be interesting to see what happens. Dec 2017 A small crop of quite nice apples coming on. It was late coming into flower but coincided with the Granny Smith so it set a lot fo fruit that I have had to thin heavily.. Dwarf Mango - Bowen 7/10Emma1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5422 days 17hrs Comments: - Love mangoes but don't want a large tree. Unfortunately it is affected by fungus and all the new growth is crinkley. Planted: 2010 Height 1 metres Growing: In a Pot Qty: 1 Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Pollination: No Question: Any suggestions for a "less toxic" (I don't believe in organic!) fungicide before I spray on Mancozeb? dwarf mulberry (Grafted) 10/10![]() Update: 5760 days 22hrs Comments: - This tree has just flourished and the fruit is yummo! Have had no problems with it despite it being in a north/west facing aspect and dealing with wind. Hoping to have a windbreak by way of passionfruit all along the back fence but the Mluberry doesn't seem to care anywhere. She is lush, tall and I love her :) It is only 2 metres from the septic tank and I thought it being a dwarf it would be ok - but perhaps not. May have to move her... pomegranate - dwarf 5/10![]() Update: 5454 days 4hrs Comments: - This is a lovely plant, and so easy to look after. I had about 10 fruit off it last year but they were very sour. I have since been told the dwarf varieties are more for looks than for the fruit, so wished I had known that before I paid nearly $50 at Bunnings. I had it in a pot, but will find a place in the garden amongst other ornamentals for it.
