Australian Blood Lime (Grafted) 10/10![]() Update: 4929 days 9hrs Comments: - New CSIRO developed native lime cross. Here's their spiel: 'Australian Blood' (also known as 'Australian Red Centre') is a hybrid between an acid mandarin and a native finger lime. It has blood-red rind, flesh and juice. It is a nice plant. More prolific than the ordinary finger lime. Very weeping habit. Tons of round fruit which start off like a stumpy black finger lime and fill out to a round red fruit. Taste is very good - particularly in salads or chopped into 'wheels' and put into drinks. Skin is edible and sweet! Fruiting Months January, February, March, August, September, October Planted: 2011 Height 3 Feet Growing: In a Pot Qty: 1 Fruit Harvest: 3 kilograms per Year First Fruited: 2 Months from Purchase in Pot Sun/Shade: Medium Sun Water Given in: Spring Pollination: Self Pollination Fertiliser or Organics Used: Organic Link When I Fertilise: Winter and Spring Was this review helpful? Finger LimeMOODLUMANSIONS1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5752 days 22hrs Comments: - I purchased this tree[seedling] earlier in the year from a distributor in the Tweed Valley near Murwillumbah. He has quite an orchard of them and they were fruiting at the time. Apparently Finger Limes fetch a really high price. I was quite sad recently when after an absence of 2 weeks away in September I returned to discover that the tree had died. I don't know who else believes in the resurrection,, but something inside me wouldn't let it go that easily. So after putting the pot into a bucket of water to wet its feet and cutting off the dead branches just in case it still had some life in it, I eventually put it out in the nursery[under the mango tree], and left it to its own devices. Just imagine my excitement[yelps of joy and leaping with delight] when I discovered some new leaves had appeared. Soooo... it wasn't dead after all. Maybe my faith was rewarded. Who knows, but I am so happy. The thing about it all was the main stem of the tree was always green, and it was this that gave me hope. So while there's hope there's a resurrection. I'll get a picture posted soon. Planted: 2009 Height 30 Centimetres Qty: 1 Was this review helpful? Finger lime - Rainforest pearlMakJeng1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5649 days 10hrs Comments: - My plant is struggling. Semi-deciduous? Jan-2010 it did not make it through the very dry period before recent flooding rain, despite weekly watering. My conclusion is that the soil was too well drained and maybe not sufficiently rich in organic matter. Nearby ornamental natives are thriving. kaffir lime 10/10Gazmanic's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5502 days 12hrs Comments: - 2 meters our little? beauty is 4 m! 8 years old and bearing lots of fruit. fruit is hardy so we wait till fall off the tree over summer, autumn, winter. We make a lemonade with lots of sugar as juice is very strong; about 1 tablespoon to each fruit. This makes a cordial which can be frozen as ice blocks for keeping and later use. So a unique way to have lemon cordial drink all year round. Not too mention the leaves for thai cooking. Lime - Mexican or Key LimeZeni's Edible FruitsUpdate: 5813 days 4hrs Comments: - This Mexican Lime tree was always struggling and it didn't survive the drought. Lime - Red Centered (Grafted) 10/10![]() Update: 891 days 8hrs Comments: - Such a cute little fruit, this one was bought late last year, planted in a grow bag while we decide where to install it (as with most of our spontanious purchases haha) and it has already fruited for us. Egg-shaped little red limes. Great for seafood and sald and drinks! Low maintenance, looks like a finger lime in terms of the greenery, and appears to be just as slow growing and hardy. Lime - Sublime (Seedling)VF1's Edible FruitsUpdate: 4704 days 14hrs Comments: - Is a relatively new selectively bred, naturally dwarf-growing version of West Indian Lime (aka Key Lime). Same tasting and same size fruit, just a much smaller growing plant that is also a little more tolerant of cold, and wetter growing conditions. Is suitable for pot-growing as max. height about 1.5 metres. I'm giving mine a few more months pot growing ( a lot of new shoots presently), and will be planted out (probably early summer). Flowering prolifically already, and plant is only small (in August). Australian Round Lime (Grafted) 9/10![]() Update: 4418 days 3hrs Comments: - This tree was slow to start growing but has been very hardy and productive. Lots of fruit and it makes a great lime pickle. The flavour is similar to finger limes, in fact, I think it is better than some varieties of finger lime I have tasted. It fruits when there is not a lot of other citrus ready ,which is useful. I use it in a variety of recipes. I will post a better photo of the tree when it has some fruit on, but it is middle of winter and it's not doing much just now.
