Dragon Fruit - Dark Star

Medium to large sized fruit with red flesh and a mild, sweet grape-like flavor that is most enjoyed when chilled and eaten fresh. It has long skinny bracts or fins that make it especially attractive. Palm - Dwarf Acai

Late variety with large elongated fruit with dwarfing characteristics. Trees fruit at under 5m. Acai (pronounced Assa-ee) have brightly coloured skin of purple and red. The flesh is smooth and almost fibreless. Very sweet and good quality, high in calcium and iron. Produces well and is fairly consistent. Lakoocha or Monkey Jack

Also known as monkey jack or lakuchi in India; tampang and other similar native names in Malaya; as lokhat in Thailand. The deciduous tree is 6-9 m tall, the large, leathery leaves, downy on the underside. Male and female flowers are borne on the same tree, the former orange-yellow, the latter reddish. The fruits are nearly round or irregular, 2 to 5 in (5-12.5 cm) wide, velvety, dull-yellow tinged with pink, with sweet sour pulp which is occasionally eaten raw but mostly made into curries or chutney. The male flower spike, acid and astringent, is pickled.

This round fruit, although relatively little known has a rich aromatic and delicious flavour. The fruit is the size of an orange and has a dull green surface with perfectly textured pulp. Matisia

The Matisia is a fast growing tropical tree native to the lowland rainforests of Peru, Equador and adjacent areas of Brazil. In its native forest it can grow to 45m but in cultivation it reaches about 12m. Sometimes seen as a buttressed tree, it is semi-deciduous and has tiered stiff branches in whorls of five. The leaves are clustered in rosettes towards the ends of the branches. Attractive flowers that are either yellowish white or rose tinted are bourne along the lesser branches and trunk, these are followed by the fruits in late Summer and Autumn. Though the rind of the wood apple fruit is so hard that it has to be cracked with a hammer, the sticky pulp is edible and used to make syrups, drinks, jelly, and jams. Dwarf Mango - King Thai

A semi-dwarf tree making it ideal for backyards, it produces elongated fruits with a very small seed. Flesh is sweet, succulent, fibreless and aromatic with a slight tang. The fruits start out with green skin and ripen to yellow with pink-red blushed fruit. Compact, branching, slightly upright tree growing to 3-4m tall and 2-3m wide. Shows good resistance to anthracnose and black spot. The fruit of a clone of King Thai mango are sold commercially as Maha Bliss in Australian Markets.

A medium-sized tree with a straight trunk that is often unbranched, with just one cluster of leaves at the top of the trunk like a palm. Leaves are very large. Fruit ellipical, green to brown; pulp is yellowy orange; 2-20 seeds/fruit. Pulp eaten roasted or boiled, mixed with rice. The tree is used as wood for construction. The leaves in decoction are used to cure intoxication by poisoned arrows.
